The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama has hinted that head porters popularly known as 'Kayayei' have been exempted from paying tolls at the various markets across the country. According to her, the move forms part of the manifesto performance which has been achieved by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 2017 till date. Addressing Journalists at a Meet-The-Press series in Accra, the Minister said “Work with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to exempt Kayayei from payment of market tolls.
