The Minister for Local Government, Osei Bonsu Amoah has hinted that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be providing a nose mask for voters on December 7.

According to him, the move will help reduce the spread of the virus among voters on election day.

Speaking on an Accra-based television he said "The first thing we need to address our minds to is the law itself. Are we to wear the nose mask in public places if the law is still there? It means that you have to comply with the law. For us as a political party, we want to make sure that our followers will go and vote and vote for us so we are even making room for the protocols"

He charged the citizenry not visit the voting centre without a nose adding such people will be driven away.

"Nobody should give the excuse that I'm not to the centre because I don't have a mask. We will produce a mask for you. We are investing in those things. It did not happen in 2016 but these are the times and we expect the EC to talk about the social distancing" he explained.

The Deputy Minister for Local Government also hinted the most important thing for the NPP is to ensure the voters observe the protocols stressing that measures have been put in place for a peaceful voting exercise.

He said "If they think going to vote will get them infected then it means we have a problem and we want to take part in solving that problem by investing in sanitizers, face mask and anything that will make the average voter comfortable for the results to be declared"
