- ACCRA GIRLS SHS: 6 Girls Tests Positive
Information reaching ThinkNewsOnline indicates that 6 females students of Accra Girls Senior High School have tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic. According to sources, the students have sent to the school's isolation centre. It is emerging that the Ayawaso North Health directorate has directed some health workers to attend to the situation. "11 students at the sickbay and some of them tested positive. They have been rushed to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for treatment" a source said. ThinkNewsOnline has also gathered that whiles some students are complaining of living in fear, parents of some students are calling for their wards to be released to them. Weeks ago, President Akufo-Addo in his address to the nation assured parents that he will ensure the 'Akufo-Addo graduates' are safe and exposed to covid-19. Former President, Jerry John Rawlings has revealed that he will get rid of his 'Moses' Brush' if President Akufo-Addo manages to kick Covid-19 out of the country. According to him, although his new look has surprised many, he will only go back to his normal looks after the pandemic has exited the country. Speaking at the 2020 June 4 celebration, he said “Ladies and gentlemen…“for those of you who are wondering about this Moses brush, if you want, call it Moses broom. Since the president [Akufo-Addo] has decided, he will use his shaven head to get rid of Covid-19, I will use [my] Moses’ brush [hair] to get rid of it and when it happens, then I think we can go back to our normal look” He however joshed saying he was going to use his hair to brush the disease away. In a recent interview with an Accra-based radio station, the Ex. President said “I wanted to provide evidence that I was also hibernating and I have decided until it goes, this hair won’t go. The General Overseer of Mountain of Grace and Glory Ministry in Nigeria, Prophet Emmanuel Chinonso Stephen has warned that Ghana might lose President Akufo-Addo if the citizenry do not do away with the politicization of his health and pray for him. According to Prophet Stephen, President Akufo-Addo is not living in ordinary times adding that if care is not taken a disaster might befall the country and its citizenry. Speaking at the '2019 My Year of Glory' service, the General Overseer said "And a revelation appeared before me that Ghanaians should pray for their President. What I am seeing concerning the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, he needs to pray. I saw him so sick and this sickness started from cough, chest" He added that in the revelation, he observed that President Akufo-Addo was battling with chest issues which the citizenry ought to have known but they were not informed. The Man of God further mentioned the health challenge of President Akufo-Addo however found its way into the known making it trend as public news. "When the thing came up, instead of them to look at what it is, they began to play politics with it. And as they began to play politics, it became a louder issue" the Man of God said. Information reaching ThinkNewsOnline indicates that JoyNews/Fm's News Anchor, Komla Adom has quit the Multimedia family and is set to join 'ABC News'. Sources close to the versatile journalist says there will be a shocking announcement in the coming days which will see Komla Adom being unveiled as a new member of East Legon-based news cable, ABC News. It is emerging that Komla Adom quit the Multimedia Group in June over what close friends and associates believe was "a breakdown in relationship - between the presenter and management" ThinkNewsOnline has also gathered that the presenter was yanked off-air in March this year over disagreements on his fashionable rings he wore on his fingers whiles airing the news. Though there is no official word on his next move yet, there are speculations he could be joining either TV3 or Asaase Radio. - COVID-19: “Stop Using Unregistered Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits (RDT)” – FDA Warns Public
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has sent a strong warning to the public to refrain from using all Unregistered Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits (RDT) which have been imported into the country adding that most of them have not been validated within the appropriate settings. According to the FDA, there have been concerns and calls from sections of the public, complaining about the usage of the RDT kits adding that they have been made to believe it is used to test the coronavirus disease. In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of the Food and Drugs Authority, Delese Darko, it said “The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) wishes to caution the public who are using and any persons importing these tests kits, that RDT Kits must be validated within the appropriate settings and target population, that is Ghana, before they can be approved for use” The statement further added that the validation process is guided by independently evaluating the diagnostics for assurance of quality and performance through collaboration with Research Laboratories and Public Health Laboratories and the expert Technical Advisory Committee for Medical Devices. Madam Delese Darko also added that the Ministry of Health’s approved method of screening and clinical diagnosis of the coronavirus in Ghana is the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test. - “Evicting Tenants Without Tangible Reasons Can Lead To Jail Term” - Rent Control Warns Landlords
The Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) for the Rent Control Department of Ghana, Emmanuel Hovey Kporsu has sent a strong warning to Landlords/ladies across the country saying evicting tenant(s) without tangible reasons can amount to a jail term. According to him, such unprofessional behaviours are an offence under the laws of the country. Mr. Emmanuel Hovey Kporsu said “The landlord has no right to order any tenant out of their house, even if the rent expires. Even if the tenant willingly gives you notice that they’ll vacate soon, you don’t have the right to sack them” The P.R.O further added before such actions are taken, Landlords/ladies must first inform the Rent Control Department of Ghana adding that they(Rent Control) are the only entity mandated by law to deal with such issues. “It’s either the rent control officer or the magistrate who has the right to do so. On the basis that an offense has been committed, [you can report] and then we’ll investigate and if truly an offense has been committed, we can order the tenant out of the house” he said. - SSNIT Hospital Loses Top Surgeon To Covid-19
ThinkNewsOnline can confirm that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has lost one of its top surgeons to the novel coronavirus. According to SSNIT, the sad incident occurred at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Thursday 2nd July, 2020. In a release by the Management of SSNIT, it said "We regret to inform all staff of the passing of our consultant surgeon, Dr. Richard Kisser" The statement further added that the deceased contracted the virus in the line of his duty. Late Dr. Kisser becomes the next frontline health worker who has lost his life as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Few days ago, Superintendent of the Kwadaso SDA Hospital, Kumasi Dr Harry Owusu Boateng died after contracting the virus. Professor Jacob Plange-Rhule, Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in April this year, also passed away after contracting the virus. - President Akufo-Addo Accepts Carlos Ahenkorah's Resignation
President Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation letter from the office of the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah which takes immediate effect. The move comes after the Deputy Minister admitted breaching the COVID-19 protocols. In a statement signed by Director of Communications, Office of President, Eugene Arhin, it said "A person certified to be positive for the virus, visited a registration centre in his Constituency before the period of self-isolation was completed" The statement further added that President Akufo-Addo is admonishing all of his appointees to bear in mind that they are to provide leadership at all times.
