The Former Deputy Minister of Energy in the erstwhile John Mahama Administration, John Jinapor has stated that it would become necessary to amend the country's constitution if the nation decides to allow chiefs to participate in active partisan politics. Mr. Jinapor reiterated that Ghana's constitution frowns on chiefs engaging in active partisan politics. Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, he said "It is not an issue of NDC or NPP's position, it is the constitution. The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has revealed that all teachers who passed the Licensure with from the Colleges of Education and are done with their National Service have been automatically employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES). According to him, some teachers failed in their exams, they have been considered and given employment this year. The most affected firms are the leading telcos, Airtel and MTN Uganda, as well as Stanbic Bank, Uganda’s largest bank that also backs up most of the mobile money transactions. Our technical teams are analysing the incident and will restore services as soon as possible. We apologise to all customers for any inconvenience that this has caused and reiterate our commitment to delivering seamless banking and mobile money services,” they added. A source at one of the affected companies, told this reporter that hackers broke into the system of Pegasus Technologies who handles MTN to Airtel and Airtel to MTN transactions as well as the respective telco to bank payments on Thursday night. Pegasus also handles Stanbic Bank’s Flexipay, a cashless solution that allows the bank’s customers to pay for goods and services via mobile money.
