The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompre on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the current anti-LGBTQ+ bill before the House is “defective”. Mother of Angel Maxine, a popular Ghanaian transgender, has launched an attack on Sam George and all supporters of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill. Maxine's mother is calling out mothers of Ghanaian transgenders to come out and speak against the anti-LGBTQ. According to her, they have not chosen to give birth to children who turned out to be transgender. "Look at the bill they are passing, so will you sit down for somebody to just kill your child? I think that boy called Sam George is a mad man," she angrily said in a video seen by pulse.com.gh. Mother According to her, when she gave birth to her son who now identifies as a woman, even the nurses claimed her child was a girl but did not accept that. She explains that she is a staunch Christian and Maxine's father is a Reverend, hence, they did everything to raise their child as a boy but it didn't work. "From the beginning, it was easy because I am a Christian and a born again and a woman of God as that. And she was brought up in a Christian home, her dad too is a reverend minister so you can imagine it wasn't easy," she said. She continued that "we did everything we could, I went before God, I fasted, I prayed, what God told me is He created her in his own image, that is all I heard from God so I took my son and he said I have a purpose for her to save people like her". In the video that has gone viral, Maxine's mother alleged that "people like my son are in everyone's home, some are in parliament as well". The 2020 presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has said more than one million extra ballot papers were thumb-printed in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections. The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa speaking at the 2021 ECOWAS Parliamentary Seminar held in Winneba in the Central region, described the 2020 general elections as historic, credible, and cost-effective. She said the comparative cost of the election was reduced by 41% which is equivalent to 90 million dollars. She stated that the 2020 elections was a historic one for the transparency, credibility, cost-effectiveness, high turnout, and peaceful conduct that characterised it. But Mahama disagreed with her and said over one million ballot papers were thumb-printed in favour of the NPP. According to him, "More than one million extra ballot papers were printed, which the EC claimed happened by mistake but on the day of the elections, some of the more than one million extra ballot papers had already been secretly thumb-printed in favour of the NPP." Addressing the Divisional Chief of Prestea Himan, Nana Nteboah Prah, recently, as part of his Thank You tour of the Western Region, he said "And, so, all these things dented the credibility of the polls and caused an embarrassment." The Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A has adjourned to Thursday, November 11 the case of Josephine Panyin Mensah, who made headlines last month for going missing while purportedly pregnant. It later turned out that she feigned both her kidnapping and pregnancy. She was found at Tulano, a suburb of Axim, exactly five days after an official complaint was filed by her husband, Michael Simmons, that she had not returned since going for her routine morning walk. She later confessed in front of her mum, security officials, and other relatives that indeed she did not carry any pregnancy. The Management of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited, BOST says it has discovered product adulteration at its Kumasi Depot over the last couple of days and is taking all required steps to rectify the anomaly. According to Management, the truck and its content are being held at a safe place whilst investigations continue. In a communique sighted by Thinknewsonline.com, it said "The driver of the truck is in custody, helping the investigative agencies to get to the bottom of the matter. Further pre-discharge tests disclosed eight (8) more trucks had their contents adulterated. The drivers of these vehicles are nowhere to be found as we speak but their respective trucks are being held pending the conclusion of the investigations. This brings the total number of trucks with adulterated contents to nine (9)" BOST, however, assure the public that, with the current robust Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs, no adulterated product will find its way into our tanks much less get to the market. It also noted that the reported incident has not affected its operations in any way adding that its fuel safety and security as a country is assured. Throwing more light on its transportation of products, the statement said "BOST depends on three modes of transport for transferring products from its primary depot at Kpone in Tema across its other depots: Kumasi, Buipe, Akosombo and Bolgatanga" "These modes are: Rad through bulk road vehicles popularly called tankers. River barges on the Volta Lake in partnership with Volta Late Transport Corporation and Pipelines between Tema and Akosombo, Buipe and Bolgatanga and from Tema Oil Refinery to the Accra Plains Depot. It hinted that the reported incident concerns the Bulk Road Vehicular mode of transport. On product loading and off-loading standard procedures, it said "As a standard practice, products are tested to confirm their chemical composition before loading into trucks. Upon arrival at their destination, same product testing is carried to ensure what was loaded on to the truck is what has been transported before discharge is permitted" The Oil Storage company stated that during the pre-discharge testing of product aboard a BRV, it was discovered through the basic test that the chemical composition of the product at the destination differed from what was loaded on the truck. BOST made a call for confirmation testing which proved that the result of the basic test was correct: the product aboard the truck was adulterated. U.S. former President Bill Clinton is recovering after two days of treatment for an infection in a California hospital, his doctors said on Thursday. The 75-year-old was admitted to the University of California Irvine Medical Center on Tuesday evening "for a non-COVID-19 infection," Clinton spokesman Angel Urena said on Twitter. "He is on the mend, in good spirits, and incredibly thankful to the doctors, nurses and staff providing him with excellent care," Urena wrote. The spokesman added to Reuters: "He’s up and about, joking and charming the hospital staff." Clinton went to the hospital after feeling fatigued and was diagnosed with an infection of the bloodstream that doctors believe started as a urinary tract infection, CNN reported, citing his doctors. The former president's physicians, Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardack, said he was "admitted to the hospital for close monitoring and administered IV antibiotics and fluids." "He remains at the hospital for continuous monitoring," they said in a statement. "After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well." They added: "We hope to have him go home soon." CNN cited doctors saying Clinton was in the intensive care unit primarily to give him privacy. Clinton, a Democrat who was president from 1993-2001, has had past health issues, including a 2004 quadruple bypass surgery and a 2010 procedure to open a blocked artery in his heart with two stents. CNN reported that Clinton's current hospital stay is not related to his heart issues. The former Arkansas governor came to the White House by defeating an incumbent president, Republican George H.W. Ghana defender, Jonathan Mensah is extremely delighted the Black Stars achieved two wins over Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Black Stars recorded a 2-1 victory in Cape Coast and completed the double with a 1-0 win in Harare three days later. Mensah featured in both games and couldn't hide his excitement as he lauded the team's performance in both games. “Embrace the grind. Two games, two wins. 6 points in the bank, a lot of work still to be done but the team performance over the two games was great,” Mensah posted on Twitter. The Bank of Ghana says it has identified a money doubling scheme operating in the country under the pseudo name 'World Remit'. According to Bank of Ghana, the fraudulent scheme is distinct from the globally renowned Fintech 'World Remit' which is in the business of international fund transfers. In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Bank of Ghana, Sandra Thompson, it said "Thus scheme encourages customers to select preferred packages, following which a code is generated by the fraudsters with which they obtain the WhatsApp accounts of their victims for spurious purposes" The statement further added that the scheme is fraudulent and does not reward investors as promised. Ms. Thompson said "The general public should verify with Bank of Ghana or other relevant authorities, the licensing status of persons or entities prior to depositing funds with them" She added that the public should place deposits only with institutions licensed by Bank of Ghana, in order to be accorded the necessary protection offered under the applicable banking laws. The Bank of Ghana says it is cautioning the public against patronage of such and other similar unsanctioned schemes.
