"My Dream Is To See Okada Riders Enriching Themselves Through CODA Drive" - CODA Boss (VIDEO+PICS)


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coastal Development Authority (CODA), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib has hinted the newly introduced CODA Drive will help Okada Riders enrich themselves.


According to him, he believes his dream will come to reality.


Speaking at the launch of CODA Drive, an initiative introduced to phase out the 'Okada' business, he said "The dream is to see Okada riders enriching themselves though CODA Drive.I want every Okada driver to be a billionaire. So switching to CODA Drive take advantage to start by being a millionaire"


The CODA Boss also revealed that the introduction of the CODA Drive will help improve livelihoods and create more employment for the youths within the Coastal Development Zone.


Lawyer Jerry Shaib in his presentation lauded the Akufo-Addo administration and Vice President Dr. Bawumia for thinking about the plight of okada riders in the country.


He added "We want to assure your safety, we want to help you succeed so you can look after your children and family,”


Public Relations Officer of Motor Riders Association of Ghana, Randolph Osei Buabeng thanked Vice President Bawumia for taking into consideration the concerns of riders.


He charged the riders to exhibit good behaviours since they commence operating with the CODA Drive.


“We wish to use this opportunity to admit that the motor commercial business is extremely dangerous. We are grateful to H.E Mahamudu Bawumia for his foresight for this arrangement to give cars to Okada riders" “It will help us alleviate poverty and ensure our safety. We believe it is a sustainable business and will reduce the hustling of Okada riders,” he concluded.


He stressed that his members are not only happy about the initiative but will take it upon themselves to acquire the vehicles.


Thinknewsonline.com has gathered that individuals can benefit from the CODA Drive via becoming a member of farmers, fishers, taxi drivers, ‘Okada’ riders or ‘Aboboyaa’ riders association for at least a year.


The beneficiary must also be resident within the Coastal Development Zone (Oti, Volta, Greater Accra, Central, Western and Western North regions).


On price and payment; it is emerging that the price of one vehicle is GHS 25,000.00.


Information available to Thinknewsonline.com reveals that payments shall be on hire purchase.


Individuals or small business who is selected to benefit must make an initial payment of 20% of the selling price.


The balance with an interest rate of 2% per annum shall be spread over 24month equal installments.


Based on the hire purchase agreement, the Authority shall have ownership of the vehicle until payment is completed by the buyer/beneficiary. As such, all documents to the vehicle shall be held by the Authority until payment is completed.


The Management of CODA has noted that all CODA Drive vehicles have insured.


All CODA Drive vehicles will be registered in the name of CODA Credit Union before they are distributed to the beneficiaries.


Ownership of a vehicle will be transferred to a buyer/beneficiary after completion of payment.
