Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to reduce the cost of Hajj fares from $4,500 to $3,500 if elected President in the upcoming general elections.
He spoke at the NDC's final rally at Zurak Park, Madina, in Accra on Thursday.
Mr. Mahama said “My government will reduce Hajj fares from $4,500 to $3,500 if elected President.”

He criticized the current administration for their insensitivity to the plight of Ghanaian Muslim pilgrims, stressing that the proposed reduction would ease financial burdens and enable more Muslims to embark on the sacred journey to Mecca.
“This reduction will ease tensions and empower more pilgrims to fulfill their religious obligations,” he added.
Mr. Mahama also emphasized his commitment to ensuring accountability in governance.

He assured that any member of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration found guilty of misappropriating public funds would face the law under his leadership.
He appealed to Ghanaians to vote massively for the NDC on December 7, highlighting the NPP government’s mismanagement as a reason for change.
“The populace is fed up with the hardships and mismanagement. It is time to vote the NDC into government to save Ghana,” he said.

National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, commended party executives and foot soldiers for their dedication.
He urged Ghanaians to guard the ballot boxes on election day to prevent electoral malpractices.

Confident in the NDC’s chances, he stated, “The NDC will emerge victorious in the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.”
General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey cautioned against repeating the mismanagement of funds seen under the current government if the NDC wins power.

He challenged party members to adopt a mindset focused on service rather than amassing wealth.
Members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates took turns addressing supporters, urging them to avoid “skirt and blouse” voting by voting for the NDC on both the Presidential and Parliamentary ballots.
The over 8-hour event attracted NDC bigwigs, creative arts players, concerned drivers, okada riders, and passionate supporters of the party.
