Governments and international organizations around the world have reacted positively following the announcement of a framework agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending months of conflict that have destabilized the Middle East and disrupted global energy markets.

The agreement, announced by US President Donald Trump, is expected to pave the way for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important maritime trade routes, while also laying the groundwork for broader negotiations, including discussions on sanctions relief.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi indicated that additional negotiations would continue during a proposed 60-day ceasefire period to address outstanding issues between the two countries.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the development as a significant diplomatic achievement and praised all parties involved in facilitating dialogue.

He also acknowledged the contributions of regional actors, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, in helping create conditions for the agreement.

In Doha, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the commitment shown by both Washington and Tehran to pursue peaceful engagement.

Qatari officials expressed hope that the breakthrough would encourage further diplomatic efforts to resolve regional disputes and strengthen stability across the Middle East.

Türkiye also welcomed the announcement, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan describing the agreement as a positive step toward reducing tensions and promoting peace in the region.

Ankara reiterated its support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through dialogue and international law.

At the international level, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres characterized the agreement as an important move toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict, emphasizing the value of diplomacy in addressing regional security challenges.

In Europe, leaders highlighted the importance of ensuring that the agreement leads to lasting stability.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the deal a significant milestone and stressed the need for the unrestricted restoration of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

He also underscored the importance of implementing any commitments relating to Iran's nuclear programme in a transparent and verifiable manner.

French President Emmanuel Macron similarly called for the immediate reopening of the strategic waterway, noting its importance to both regional security and the global economy.

He further emphasized support for efforts aimed at strengthening stability and state institutions in Lebanon.

The agreement has generated cautious optimism among world leaders, many of whom view it as an opportunity to reduce regional tensions, restore confidence in international trade routes and create space for further diplomatic engagement.
