Wife of late ex-President Jerry John Rawlings and former First Lady of the Republic, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has taken a swipe at the opposition NDC, accusing them of “shedding crocodile tears” over the death of her husband and seeking to profit from this predicament. Since the death of the former President, the NDC and its elements have sought to cry the most, suggesting that they loved him more than any other, when in fact, and indeed, their conduct towards him before his passing inarguably proved otherwise. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, November 23, 2020, through the NDP, which is the party she founded after she and her husband were treated as outcasts by the NDC, the former First Lady of the Republic, said, the NDC, having vilified their founder and called him all manner of names, are now seeking desperately and opportunistically to profit from his death. Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensah has justified the commission's decision to publish the full details of persons captured on the electoral roll. The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress in this year's presidential elections, John Mahama has described his main opponent, President Akufo-Addo as a 'democratic dictator'. In the Former President's view, the president has infringed upon media freedom and cracked down on divergent opinions since assuming office. John Mahama was speaking at a mini-rally at Garu in the Upper East Region. "Nana Akufo-Addo parades himself as a human rights lawyer but he is a kind of democratic dictator", he said. Mr. Mahama also questioned the government's commitment to free speech claiming it had sabotaged an interview he was to have on Abusua FM. The Electoral Commission (EC) will today, November 24, file its responses to a suit filed by Mr. Marricke Gane, a disqualified presidential candidate. The criminal Court 2 Division of the High Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Elfreda Amy Dankyi ordered the commission to file its responses on Monday after lawyers of the Commission had pleaded with the court for time to respond to the suit. Mr. Gane was disqualified in October together with four others and further accused of forgery.
