- Manchester United Are Doing Something Their Title Rivals Are Failing At After Wolves Win
What Manchester United’s Premier League rivals wouldn’t give for a slice of luck that fell the way of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side late on against Wolves. A dull and forgettable encounter was instantly wiped from memory when Marcus Rashford’s injury-time effort struck Romain Saiss and left Rui Patricio wrong-footed, handing United three points they had barely deserved. And as if seeing United in second in the Premier League wasn’t bad enough for their title rivals who probably thought they’d seen the back of them for another year or two, now they’re doing things they used to make a habit of under Sir Alex Ferguson. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/watch-jean-mensa-spotted-dancing-at-aglow-amidst-election-tension-video The Scot looked as cold and as frustrated as the rest of us as he sat in the directors' box and watched United go through the motions in the freezing Manchester night, but in the manner of the late winner, he’d have recognized some characteristics from his own great sides. That’s not to get ahead of ourselves and suggest United are truly back - there is still plenty to work on - but ending 2020 in second place is a major statement of intent from this side, as well as a sign of the progress they’ve made in the previous 12 months. OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER EXPLAINS WHY HE IS AGAINST THE IDEA OF A 'CIRCUIT BREAK' They’re also in the midst of doing something that the rest of their rivals have struggled within a season that is testing consistency and reliability like no other. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/opinion-how-to-go-on-a-peaceful-aworshia-without-being-caught After losing to Arsenal at Old Trafford at the start of November United had won just two of their first six Premier League games. But the trip to Everton sparked the side into life and since then they’ve been on a nine-game unbeaten run, with seven of them won. Nine-game unbeaten runs will be like gold dust this season and while the points garnered in that two-month stretch will be invaluable, what it has done for United’s confidence is something that can’t be measured, other than in moments like Rashford’s winner and the way belief never wavered, despite the difficulties of breaking down a side have proved a constant thorn in the side for Solskjaer’s United. They had created very few chances of note until that goal, but they kept pushing and probing, and eventually, a bit of luck fell their way. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/entertainment-sister-derby-blasts-joy-fm-over-unprofessional-behaviour-picture Even since drawing with Leicester three days ago, United had seen Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea (twice) and Leicester themselves drop points. Late winners could be incredibly valuable in this title race, and with 15 games played we have to say Solskjaer’s side is well in that discussion now. Beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day and they will go to Anfield in mid-January knowing they are piling the pressure on Liverpool, who will not want to see United trying to hunt them down, even if they have to remain firm favorites to defend their crown. United will have to play better than this to beat Villa, however, and it’s evident one of the improvements that must come is their form at Old Trafford. How United must wish every team would turn up at Old Trafford and play like Leeds. As Leeds has proved since the 6-2 drubbing they experienced against United, there is nothing wrong with Bielsa’s style, but unfortunately for United, not every side is as accommodating as their rivals from across the Pennines. While Leeds played to United’s strengths, almost every other side to come here recently has tried to stifle United. Wolves followed the template of Chelsea, Arsenal, West Brom, and Manchester City is trying to bore United into submission. - "Threats On My Life Won’t Stop My Fight Against Corruption" – Manasseh Azure
Freelance investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has said that despite threats against his life, he won’t relent in his fight against corruption. The anti-corruption journalist said if one’s personal safety is prioritized over the country’s progress, nothing will get done by the people and everyone would ultimately suffer the consequences. “I will do what is right and trust God to protect me,” he said Monday on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show (SMS). READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/watch-jean-mensa-spotted-dancing-at-aglow-amidst-election-tension-video His comment comes after he disclosed that he received a death threat following an article he wrote about the country’s recent election and the outcome. The piece titled, ‘ERRORtoral’ Commission and Akufo-Addo’s coup d’état,’ discussed the anomalies with the Techiman South parliamentary results and the non-participation of the people of Santrokfi, Akpafu, Lolobi, and Likpe (SALL) areas in the voting process. The two issues, if not resolved before the constitution of the next parliament, could result in what Manasseh Azure describes as a “coup against the legislative arm of government.” However, someone who was not happy with the article and felt the journalist, through the piece, was siding with the opposition NDC on the two constituency issues, sent him an email on Christmas day saying Manasseh was “lucky to still be walking a free man.” READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/opinion-how-to-go-on-a-peaceful-aworshia-without-being-caught Mr. Azure Awuni admitted on Joy SMS that he had suffered several attacks in his line of duty as a journalist including various allegations and falsehoods peddled against him. However, “when it gets to a point where your life is being threatened, I think it is very serious and no one should take it lightly,” he said. “I have said that if anybody is not suicidal, they would definitely not want to die when perhaps that may not be the natural order. “So no matter how brave or whoever or whatever you are, if your life is being threatened and you have something to live for, you’ll take it seriously,” he said. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/entertainment-sister-derby-blasts-joy-fm-over-unprofessional-behaviour-picture Amidst all the threats, Manasseh Azure is also optimistic that no man can take his life against the will of God. “If God so wills that I die standing for what is right, then I’ll die a death of nobility even if no one appreciates what I have done,” he said. He further noted that the fight against corruption through difficult becomes more difficult if “the very people you are fighting for don’t even appreciate that you are sacrificing for them and they join the oppressors to attack you.” READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/opinion-how-to-go-on-a-peaceful-aworshia-without-being-caught “If you are living your life and you know there are people out there who want you dead, obviously you would be afraid. So courage in my own view is not the absence of fear but you sometimes need to tell yourself ‘I will not be cowed by that fear,” he added. Source: Myjoyonline.com
