HONOURING GREAT HEROES: "CODA Will Redevelop Asomdwee Park" - CEO


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coastal Development Authority (CODA), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib has revealed his outfit will ensure it redevelops the Asomdwee Park in honour of Late President John Evans Atta Mills.


According to him, the burial grounds of the Late Prof. Mills will be given a facelift to enhance its status as a national monument in honour of the late Head of State who died in office in 2012.


Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony for commencement of construction works at the Asomdwee Park, the CEO said "We will redevelop the Asomdwee Park in memory of Late President Mills. The redevelopment will be funded by the Coastal Development Authority (CODA), under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP)"


Speaking on Government’s commitment, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib said “I am delighted to inform you that, as a gesture of government’s commitment to advancing the values and ideals espoused by the Late Prof. Mills, H. E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Coastal Development Authority to fund the redevelopment of Asomdwee Park to transform it into a national monument befitting of its status as the final resting place of this great son of Ghana.”


He added that Government will continue to support the Institute in recognition of Prof’s invaluable contribution to the development of Ghana.


ThinkNewsOnline has gathered that the facelift will entail completion of planned and uncompleted projects which were abandoned in 2012.


He noted there will also be an additional enhancements to improve the tourism potential of the facility.


The 8th Anniversary was climaxed with a wreath laying ceremony and was organised by the Atta Mills Institute.
