In an inspiring display of community spirit, the Dome-Kwabenya District Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) undertook its July monthly clean-up exercise, dubbed 'Operation Clean Your Corner'.
The initiative, which spanned over five hours, saw enthusiastic participation from staff members, including the District Office Manager, Public Relations Officer, accountants, and other personnel.
Raymond Barnes, Manager of the Dome-Kwabenya District Office, highlighted the significance of the clean-up effort during an interview with Think TV/Think News.
He explained that the initiative aligns with the new CEO Dr. Aboagye Dacosta’s vision of incorporating preventive and promotional health strategies within the NHIS framework.
Mr. Barnes remarked, "We have a new CEO, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, and part of his policies includes implementing a prevention and promotional health strategy for NHIS"
"While our Regional Office is planning a health walk next week, we decided to take the proactive step of cleaning our environment. We call this 'clean your corner.'"
Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, Mr. Barnes added, "Cleanliness is next to godliness. I spoke to my team, and they all supported the idea, for which I am deeply grateful. Without them, this initiative wouldn't have been possible."
The Manager also took the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Aboagye Dacosta on his new appointment as CEO of NHIS.
He expressed hope that the new leadership would bring more recognition and rewards to deserving staff members, particularly in the form of more 'slips' and promotional opportunities.
The Manager further extended his heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Dome-Kwabenya District Office for their active participation and commitment to the clean-up exercise.
Their collective effort not only enhanced the office environment but also set a commendable example of teamwork and dedication to community well-being.
The 'Operation Clean Your Corner' initiative underscores the NHIS's commitment to fostering a culture of health and hygiene, reflecting the broader goals of the new leadership under Dr. Aboagye Dacosta.
