Dr. Sammy Ayeh, a member of the NDC Communications Team, has labeled Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a "pathological liar," pointing to a series of unfulfilled promises that have characterized his tenure.
Dr. Ayeh's remarks come at a time when the Vice President, Bawumia is making fresh promises ahead of the 2024 elections, leading many to question his credibility.
Speaking on Think Tv's political show, SE NO PEI, he said "Dr. Bawumia promised teachers across the country one laptop each under the 'One Teacher, One Laptop' initiative, but where are the laptops?" Dr. Ayeh questioned.
"Now, he's back with another grand promise, this time offering cars to teachers. If he couldn't deliver laptops, how can we trust him to deliver cars?"
Dr. Ayeh highlighted the over 40 taxes that have been introduced under the current government, with Dr. Bawumia at the helm of the Economic Management Team.
"Dr. awumia sat in on all these decisions, allowing these taxes to be implemented. Now, he’s coming back to tell us he will scrap this and that? The inconsistency is glaring."
He further criticized the Vice President's leadership roles, including his positions as chairman of the Police, Armed Forces, and the Economic Management Team, pointing out the dismal state of the economy under his watch.
"These were the roles given to him by President Akufo-Addo. And what did he achieve? The economy under Bawumia is a bomb waiting to explode. What new can he possibly do if he becomes President?"
Dr. Ayeh also took a swipe at the government's claim of pioneering digitalization efforts, stating that it was Dr. Hannah Tetteh of the NDC who launched the passport digitalization process in 2016.
"The NPP’s attempt to take credit for digitalization is yet another lie in their long list of falsehoods."
Dr. Ayeh stressed that Ghana's economy was already in shambles before the COVID-19 pandemic, citing the World Bank's assessment as evidence.
"Before COVID, the economy was already on its knees. Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have failed us miserably, and Ghanaians are too learned to be deceived by them anymore."
As the 2024 elections draw near, Dr. Ayeh urged Ghanaians to scrutinize the details of Bawumia's promises, asserting that the "devil lies in the details."
He called on the electorate to remember the Vice President's track record and hold him accountable.
