The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the 2024 elections in the Greater Accra Region, describing the process as successful and largely transparent despite a few challenges.
Speaking to journalists at the OLAM SHS Collation Centre in Tema on Sunday, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, commended all stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a smooth election.
“So far, the election in Greater Accra has been successful, transparent, and supportive, even though we experienced some minor issues,” he said.
“The major concern was unauthorized military interventions at certain polling stations, which created unnecessary tension. However, in general, the process went well.”
Nii Ashie Moore disclosed that the NDC has won 27 out of the 34 parliamentary seats in the region, representing 56% of the total seats declared so far.
He highlighted that the party’s performance reflects the confidence the electorate has in the NDC’s vision and policies.
“This region is our stronghold, and while we are happy with the outcome, we had higher expectations for some constituencies, particularly for Ashai, who we expected to perform better,” he noted.
He also took the opportunity to congratulate the media, immigration, police, and fire service officials for their professionalism during the elections.
The NDC Chairman expressed optimism about delivering on the party’s promises and policies, including the creation of a 24-hour economy and the establishment of a women’s bank.
“With the Electoral Commission, I must say they have exceeded expectations. Until the 2024 elections, they have performed excellently. Both personally and as a party, we are satisfied with their efforts,” he remarked.
Nii Ashie Moore announced that the party would commence celebrations on Monday, December 9, to appreciate their supporters for their dedication and efforts.
