Seven persons have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with the alleged theft of three unregistered Hyundai vehicles, including Elantra and Sonata models, in the Eastern Region.
The arrests were carried out by the Inspector-General of Police's Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) following an intelligence-driven operation that uncovered what investigators believe to be a vehicle theft syndicate.

Police sources disclosed that the operation was triggered after the owner of an unregistered Hyundai Elantra reported the vehicle missing at Nkawkaw on May 25, 2026.

Using digital tracking and intelligence-gathering techniques, investigators traced the vehicle to a location at Roman Down in Asamankese.

A joint operation involving officers from CVET and the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) led to the arrest of seven suspects and the recovery of two additional vehicles suspected to have been stolen.

The suspects have been identified as Acheampong Otuo Kofi, popularly known as "Levels," Kpachen Ebenezer, Fianko Isaac alias "Yaw," Besah Elizabeth, David Kudalor, Enoch Acheampong and Solomon Odei.
The recovered vehicles have been secured by the police as investigations continue into the activities of the group.

Authorities believe there could be more stolen vehicles linked to the suspects and say efforts are underway to locate and retrieve them.
All seven suspects remain in custody and are assisting investigators with enquiries.

The Police Service has meanwhile encouraged the public to provide information that could help dismantle vehicle theft and carjacking networks operating across the country.
