The Member of Parliament for Adaklu Constituency in the Volta Region, Kwame Governs Agbodza has backed the Flagbearer for the opposition, National Democratic Congress(NDC) saying he legalising the 'Okada' business will be useful than Government's NABCO programme. According to the MP, legalising it will not only be a good deal for the youth but also an avenue for job creation. I think the former president is in tune with the realities of the times. I will be happy to see this becomes a law to make Okada a safe and profitable business.” The Adaklu MP who doubles as a Ranking Member for Parliament's Roads and Transport Committee added the existing law that stopped riders from using their bikes for commercial businesses has lost its relevance stressing it must be reviewed. Our memories are not short enough to forget that the economy, under him, was such a wreck that there was a ban placed on all recruitment into our public services. Ghana's Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has hinted that notwithstanding government' plans of excluding the security services from the amalgamation of pensions, it has come to an agreement to allow them to remain on their already prevailing pension programmes. According the Information Minister, after a careful examination of a report on the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766), security services such as the Police Service, the Immigration Service, the National Fire Service, the Prison Service and all other security and intelligence agencies will be excluded. Two, the amendment of Act 766 to exclude the security service from the unification of pensions" “Cabinet granted approval for the above actions and directed the Minister for Employment and Labor Relations to commence processes to have the law amended to reflect this decision" he mentioned. The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called for collaboration with all stakeholders ahead of government’s plans to reopen schools following the shut down in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Dr. Prempeh made the call when he inaugurated a 10-member committee in Accra to deliberate and advise on modalities for the re-opening of schools in the pre-tertiary sub sector for the approval of the President.
