General Secretary of the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has lambasted President Akufo-Addo saying the recent increment in cocoa prices is a deliberate attempt to win votes of the producers ahead of the December polls. Addressing the chiefs and people of Nkwantaso in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region, Mr Asiedu Nketia said Akufo-Addo has found a way of wiping the “Not” in the “Not for sale” inscription on cocoa fertilizer bags. “Akufo-Addo has found a way to wipe away the “NOT” in the “NOT FOR SALE” inscription on those fertilizer bags and he is now selling it to you; when he saw that the pressure mounted on him by you cocoa farmers was unbearable, he now says he’s giving the fertilizers to you on credit,”he said ” I came to assure you that, John Mahama is coming back in January so consider those fertilizers you took on credit to be free of charge and tear the repayment coupons and throw them away”, he added. After nine years of consistent and progressive partnership with Ghana Beach Soccer, CalBank has begun discussions on a Legacy project for the sand sport. The CalBank Legacy Project could become a reality as early as 2021 when approved and activated with the construction of a world-class beach soccer arena in a chosen Ghanaian coastal city. Although the venue has not been announced yet, such an areana is likely be situated in the Volta, greater Accra, Western or Central region since these are the traditional beach soccer enclaves in Ghana. The Director-General at the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi has confirmed that only the Accra and Cape Coast Sports Stadiums will be used for when the local league resumes. According to Prof. Twumasi, the other stadiums in the country are undergoing massive renovations hence its closure. He said "The remaining stadiums are undergoing renovations and until they are completed, they cannot be used for the league" Although he admitted there will be pressure, the Director General mentioned that he is confident the others will be completed soon. "Since most teams will not be able to train in their various home grounds, we at the Sports Authority have agreed to allow them use the various Astro turfs constructed by the government for their trainings" he hinted. President Donald Trump announced early Friday that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for Covid-19, shortly after one of his closest aides, HopeHicks, had fallen ill with the coronavirus. “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” the president said on Twitter. Trump’s announcement comes with barely one month left until the U.S. presidential election -- a contest against Democrat Joe Biden that has focused heavily on Trump’s handling of the coronavirus, which Biden and others have criticized as slow off the mark and ineffective. In a memo released early Friday morning, Trump’s physician said that the president and first lady plan to remain at the White House “during their convalescence” and that the medical unit would “maintain a vigilant watch.” “Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments,” White House physician Scott Conley said. Deere, a White House spokesman, said contact tracing for Trump and Melania Trump was being carried out and “the appropriate notifications and recommendations will be made.” Contact tracing for Hicks, he added, was already complete. The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) held a massive stakeholder forum to engage subscribers to the CODA Credit Union, a novel initiative by the Authority to empower micro, small and medium businesses in the informal sector. Addressing subscribers and the media, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Authority, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib, stated that the Credit Union has been established as an initiative under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) of the Ministry for Special Development Initiatives (MSDI) as part of efforts by government to empower businesses in the informal sector to grow.
