- Maxwell Konadu Drags Kotoko To GFA Status Committee, Demands $60k Compensation
Former Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has reported the club to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Players and Coaches Status Committee for breach of contract. The 45-year-old submitted his report to the football governing body on Thursday upon receipt of a letter from the club offering to pay GHS 80,500 for terminating his contract in December last year. The letter, dated February 15, but delivered on February 24, 2021, also ordered Konadu to return the official car that was given to him within a week. The breakup of the money per the letter said, they are paying for three months, deemed as settlement for the dismissal in lieu of notice, remaining sign-on fee of GHS 30,000 and winning bonuses of matches against Hearts of Oak (2019), and Legon Cities (2020). For the winning bonuses which were GHS 1,000 per match, the club says they will instead pay GHS 500 per match. JoySports understands there is no binding contract for the coach to receive GHS 1,000 match-winning bonus, it is the club’s discretion. On February 9, 2021, Maxwell wrote to the record Ghana league champions to demand $60,000 compensation for the unilateral termination of his contract, which the club says was his “inability to exhibit a high level of performance which would prepare the team to the height it deserves to be.” This claim, sources say is alien to the contract signed between the two parties on December 9, 2019. But, Kotoko, through its Chief Executive Officer (CE0), Nana Yaw Amponsah, said per Ghana Labour Law, he is due three months salary, thus, he will be given $9,000 out of the $36,000 demanded. Now, Konadu has resorted to having his demands paid in full by going through the Ghana FA player and coaches adjudicatory body. Both media outlets are deemed pro-government. Sonko, a 46-year-old devout Muslim and firebrand speaker, is leader of the opposition Pastef party and a former presidential candidate who came in third in the 2019 elections. Critical of Senegal's ruling elite and popular among the young, he is considered a key potential challenger to President Macky Sall in elections due in three years. - "Jean Mensa's Refusal To Testify In Election Petition Leaves A Bad Precedent For The Future"— Mahama
The 2020 Flagbearer of the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has hinted that the refusal of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa to testify in the just-ended election petition hearing will leave a bad precedent for the future. According to him, anyone who followed the proceedings will not be surprised by the ruling. Addressing the nation at his Cantonments office, he said "Speaking as a Ghanaian with no legal training, I believe that Jean Mensa's refusal to testify in this election petition leaves a bad precedent for the future. Anyone who followed the proceedings will not be surprised by the ruling. Our legal team led by Tsatsu Tsikata put together our case which left no room for doubt. Much as I am aware we are legally bound by the decisions of the Supreme Court, I disagree with the process of the trial and ruling of the court," READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/registered-voters-can-access-their-details-on-the-ec-website-ussd-code-android-mobile-apps-ec He also added that he is not satisfied with the ruling of the Supreme Court adding that he disagrees with the process of the trial. Mr. Mahama however called on NDC Faithfuls who were not happy with the outcome to turn their sadness towards the upcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections. It will be recalled that the Supreme Court on Thursday, March, 4, dismissed Candidate Mahama's petition after it gave its final verdict on the 2020 election hearing. We have settled in our minds that the allegation of vote padding though serious in our presidential election was not proved by credible evidence. Furthermore, even if the vote padding took place same was not material or substantial to change the final results so declared by the First Respondent Jean Mensa, Chair of the Electoral Commission." he noted. "If you take the alleged vote padding of 4,693 from the total valid votes of President Akufo-Addo, he will still have obtained more than 50percent of the total valid votes cast certified the threshold of Article 63 clause 3 of the 1992 constitution." Speaking on the unanimous decision from the 7 Judges, he said "They concluded the judgement by emphasising that the petitioner did not demonstrate in any way how the alleged errors in the unilateral corrections by Jean Mensa affected the validity of the declaration made by her on December 9, 2020. We have therefore no reason to order a re-run," READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/my-surname-is-john-not-rawlings-ex-prez-rawlings-reveals Story by: Joshua Kwabena Smith

- Sammy Gyamfi Writes On NDC MPs Betrayal In Approving Akufo-Addo’s Ministers-Designate
Comrades, the betrayal we have suffered in the hands of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the leadership of our Parliamentary group, particularly Hon. Haruna Iddrissu and Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, and dozens of our own MPs, are what strengthens me to work hard for the great NDC to regain power. They brazenly defied the leadership of the party and betrayed the collective good for their selfish interest. And we, must not let them succeed in their parochial quest to destroy the NDC, the party that has done so much for them and all of us. The shame they have brought on the party will forever hang like an albatross around their necks. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/local-news-rawlings-funeral-postponed-indefinitely These are hard times for all of us but we should not let the betrayal of a few quench our love for the great NDC. Rather, let it strengthen us to fight for this party. We all have an equal stake in this party. They are few, we are many. Some have sold their conscience but ours is intact. And we can work together to rebuild the party from the ashes of 3rd March 2021, which I call “Black Wednesday ”- Our day of self-inflicted shame. This is the time for us to insist on the right changes in the leadership of the NDC group in Parliament or forget about them completely. The current leadership has lost their moral authority to lead and is not fit to sit on the front bench of the NDC side of the house. READ ALSO: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/my-surname-is-john-not-rawlings-ex-prez-rawlings-reveals More importantly, it’s about time we understood, that we don’t have any NDC Speaker of Parliament. No, we don’t! We have a Speaker who rode on the back of the NDC into Office to pursue his own parochial agenda and nothing more. You trust them, at your own peril. The hypocrites can choose to remain quiet or even condemn us for speaking up, so they can remain in the good books of the renegades. But I and all who are pained by this act of betrayal will not keep quiet, because we don’t fear anyone and don’t wish to be in their good books. Read also: https://www.thinknewsonline.com/post/dr-addo-kufuor-turns-80-ministry-of-interior-ghana-medical-association-celebrates-him If they can defy the party leadership and interest openly and subject all of us to public ridicule, then they can and must also be called out openly. The NDC party is supreme and it must be cleansed. Speak up, we can and must! And let nobody stand in our way. But, when all is said and done, let’s work for the NDC with all our might and strength. Quench not your love for the party. Hope must not die. This storm shall pass. The NDC will survive and shall bounce back stronger for victory. So I say to you, be strong!
