The Ghana Police Service says it will be deploying not more than 100 officers to maintain law and order on some principle streets as Heads of States and Governments of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will be meeting in Accra tomorrow to partake in an extraordinary session. According to the Police, since the routes to be used by the Heads of States and Governments are hot-zones, the men in uniform will in their power ensure that there are no traffic congestion. Addressing Journalists at a press briefing in Accra, the Director of Public Affairs, Supt. Alexander Obeng said "Knowing very well that the summit will come on at a time that we will be experiencing rush hours both morning and evening, not less than 100 police officers will be deployed" He added that there will be dispatch riders leading the convoys of the Head of States and Government adding that as and when there is a proceeding, the police in the very short notice will clear the road for safe exit and then we will open traffic. He stressed that the Ghana Police Service will not be blocking the roads for such a long time. "The roads to be used include: Kotoka International Airport, Opebia, Akuafo Roundabout, Afrikiko, Ako-Adjei interchange, National Theatre, Ridge Roundabout, and finally Kempinski Hotel" He appealed to the general public to bare with the police. The Ministry of Finance has disclosed that two Credit Rating Agencies - Moody's Investor Services (Moody's) and Standard and Poor (S&P) has affirmed Ghana's Credit Rating at B3 and B- respectively. According to the Finance Ministry, the Rating Agencies also maintained Ghana's outlook. In a communique issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, it said "In making their decision, the credit rating agencies considered Ghana's improving growth prospects, resilent external sector performance, and continued access to the capital markets (domestic and international) as essential factors in maintaining the rating and the outlook" The statement also noted that notably, the two rating agencies recognised the efforts of government to "build back better" through the innovative Ghana CARES (Obaatanpa) programme. It also disclosed that both credit rating agencies acknowledged that Ghana's economy is recovering from the effects of the pandemic faster than its peers. Former Black Stars Coach, Charles Akonnor has thanked President Akufo-Addo, the Sports Ministry, his former boss, Kwesi Appiah and the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the opportunity given him to serve the nation. According to C.K. Akonnor, the opportunity gave him the chance to showcase to the world his talent of which he gladly executed. SEND GHANA, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), have expressed their dissatisfaction over the government’s demonstration of lack of commitment in releasing funding for the timely payments of grants to households depending on the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme across the country. According to SEND GHANA, they have consistently urged the government to aggressively put in measures to address the continuous delays in LEAP payments but it appears however that, these calls have not elicited the necessary attention from the government. Speaking at a press conference in Accra to address challenges and delays in the payment, the Deputy Country Director for SEND GHANA, Dr Emmanuel Ayifah stressed that, the adverse effect of the delays in the LEAP cash grant payments are mind-boggling as he says these household beneficiaries are poor since they do not have a reliable and regular source of adequate income. The Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold (CACM) is calling on Parliament to investigate the closure of Menzgold including the roles played by the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) and Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as well as the bank accounts of the CEO likewise other board members of the company and Brew Marketing Companies. According to the Customers, they also want to know the whereabouts of some 400kiograms of gold assets also investigated. The powerful man of God is said to have died on Tuesday morning at about 7:13am. Born Paul Yungi Cho, he was a South Korean Christian Minister. A stunning bride was left literally blushing on her wedding day when she stumbled over her own dress and broke her foot during the celebrations. Sam Graham, 40, who tied the knot with her beau Dave in Burnley on August 7, is now recuperating on crutches while her new hubby is tending to her every need. The newly wed said: "Our vows said: 'in sickness and in health' and so Dave’s had a baptism of fire in that respect. He is not the world’s best chef, but he has certainly done his best to look after me. “I’d had a few drinks at my wedding, and I think that certainly contributed to my fall. Needless to say Dave and me didn’t get up to any nookie on our wedding night; I was in too much pain and too tipsy as well.” Sam has been on crutches since her wedding day The mum-of-one said: "I wasn’t really looking for love, one my mates had put my details on the site. But it turned out Dave actually used to live near my mum and like me, he was a single parent. "He was very gentlemanly. We fell in love really quickly." Dave and Sam got engaged and started planning their wedding, but in August last year, Sam's mum Sylvia died from cancer, aged just 66. And her absence was felt strongly on Sam's wedding day. Sam said: Mum and I were very close, so it was heartbreaking. I had a photo of her at the wedding so that I could see her as I walked down the aisle. "I had a few drinks to try to control my emotions, because I really missed her." And by the end of the night, Sam admits she was "quite drunk." She said: "As we walked in through our front door, I got the train of my wedding dress stuck under my wedges and I went headlong. “My foot was absolute agony, but I thought I could sleep it off. We both collapsed into bed.” However, the next morning, Sam woke up to a swollen and painful foot, so she went to the hospital. Scans revealed she had two hairline fractures, and she was given a boot and crutches and told to rest for a month. "I hate sitting still but I am in so much pain. I can’t go to work, and I can’t drive, it’s very frustrating," she said. "Dave has been looking after me, cooking and helping me up the stairs, which is not the best start to married life! The 2020/21 decision made by members of the vetting committee of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives(MMDCEs) to recommend the renomination of Aminu Mohammed Zakari as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly has generated tension and serious confusion in the Municipality. Majority of the Constituency Executives (15 out of 16 Constituency Executives) electoral area coordinators have signed a petition to both Regional and National Vetting committee of the MMDCEs and copied the National and Regional Party. President Akufo-Addo, Veep Bawumia, Chief of Staff and Minister of Local Government have all been copied against the renomination of Aminu Mohammed Zakari as MCE for the good people of Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly. Majority of the youth groups including supporters of the New Patriotic Party in Ayawaso North, Religious Based Leaders, Some Traditional Groups, Market Women, and Assembly Members say they are not happy with committee’s recommendation of the renomination of incumbent. The report in possession of media outlets mentioned that, the members of the committee recommended Aminu Mohammed Zakari base on the fact that he was PC in 2016 general elections, also the National Press Secretary of Nasara. The report pointed out that Aminu Zakari holds MBA from the University in Ghana and BSc in Administrations. It is emerging that the renomination of the incumbent MCE will not help the course of peace and development as well as the the progress of the party in Ayawaso North constituency as we witnessed in 2020 General Elections.
