A massive shake-up has hit the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A) following the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) by President Akufo-Addo. The Ghana Police Service administration has bagged a total of GH¢11,000,000 from the sale of recruitment forms. The Service in August advertised for interested Ghanaians who qualify to apply to work for the Service in various fields. According to information available to mynewsgh, 110,000 people applied for the recruitment. However, out of the total number that applied, only 95,000 are said to have been shortlisted for the next stage of the recruitment process. It is expected that the service will employ only 5,000 persons out of the 95,000 people who have been shortlisted for the second stage of the recruitment process. Concerns About Cash For Recruitment Forms Several Ghanaians complained bitterly about why the various security services charge an amount for their forms before employing the services of young Ghanaians. To many, it is an avenue used to exploit the youth who are desperately in need of jobs since the rate of unemployment in the country is worrying. A US-based Ghanaian Lawyer, Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare was one of the leading individuals who could not fathom why forms will be sold to the youth who want to serve their country. A member of the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) three persons tasked to find a new coach for the Black Stars Dr. Randy Abbey says that no local coach applied for the vacant job. Charles Akonnor was sacked as Black Stars coach on Monday by the GFA together with his two assistants, David Duncan and Patrick Greveraars due to bad performance. Ghana beat Ethiopia in the opening round of 2022 World Cup qualifier following a limp display before losing to South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. A new coach is expected to be named in the coming days with Serbian and former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac who is currently unemployed linked with a return. The GFA constituted a three member committee headed by the Association's Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Randy Abbey. They were tasked to find a new coach in 72 hours with the committee having submitted their report to the GFA's Executive Council. He says that all the applications received were from expatriates with no Ghana coach applying for the vacant job. “There are a lot of unsolicited applications that have come through, but I have not seen any local application yet,” he told the Graphic Sports. He was, however, quick to add that “it is possible that some have come to the FA secretariat this morning but I haven’t seen any yet.” While the three-day deadline to find a new coach has now elapsed, Randy Abbey maintains that the committee will only go in for a competent coach. “We are looking for a competent coach who will hit the ground running. Ghana's Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery has charged the governing board of the Ghana National Fire Service Council to be proactive in what it does rather than be reactive in order to help avoid the numerous fire outbreaks in the country. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of 11 new members unto the governing board, he said "The GNFS ought to be proactive in what it does rather than be reactive in order to help avoid fire outbreaks, adding that “we are all witnesses to the many fires that have occurred all over the country.” He challenged the new board to make good use of their expertise and skills in order to boost the dealings of the service. The Interior Minister appealed the board to work their heart out as they take up their new office adding that the needed logistics will be provided to them. He also reminded them that the President has put in measure of providing the GNFS with more fire engines and equipment as an addition to what it already has. On his part, Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service Council, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi thanked the President Akufo-Addo for having trust in him and his board members and granting them the chance to serve. According to him, the refugees are residents in three (3) Ivorian Refugee Camps and one other camp with a population of mixed nationalities. A 41-year-old school bus driver who fondled the breast of a 10-year-old girl on board a bus at Adentan in Accra has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by an Adentan Circuit Court. Theophilus Laryea, charged with indecent assault, pleaded guilty with “explanation”, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reports.
