The Acting Director-General of the Ghana Police Service’s Public Affairs Directorate, ACP Kwesi Ofori, says they are not aware that the Western Regional Minister paid ¢3000 to kidnappers of a woman in Takoradi. This comes after the aide of Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah told the media that his boss supported the police in handling the case by providing the amount to be used to pay the ransom that was requested by the alleged kidnappers. But speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, ACP Kwesi Ofori explained that the Headquarters Management Board has not received any information regarding the ransom payment since it got involved in the case. Seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has built defence for Mrs. Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the center of controversy over her kidnapping and pregnancy story. Mrs. Josephine Panyin Mensah, a resident at Takoradi in the Western Region, reportedly went missing and has been found but her stories have sparked mixed reactions. She is said to have revealed her being kidnapped and pregnant before her disappearance. However, upon her return, she shows no baby bump nor her child which has left many people to wonder what really happened to her while she was away. Reacting to her accounts, the Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, in an interview on Kessben FM, says the woman's story is fake. “From their preliminary investigations, NIB suspects that this whole story was fake and that the medical doctor who has even looked at her revealed she wasn’t pregnant. That is the immediate information that we have. The police are still with her,” he said. According to a Police statement, the victim, now a suspect, during interrogation mentioned the European Hospital in Takoradi as the hospital for her antenatal reviews and assessment but "medical records at the facility suggest that the lady visited the hospital without pregnancy somewhere in October last year". But to Kwesi Pratt, the woman deserves an award if the Police and Regional Minister's claims are indeed true. Inferring from Mr. Pratt's comments, Mrs. Panyin Mensah should be a good actor to have put up a ''pregnancy show'' for nine months without her neighbours, friends and relatives, particularly her husband knowing the truth. "I don't believe her husband is lying. I believe her husband really believes his wife was pregnant. So, if it turns out that this woman wasn't pregnant, I think she deserves an award from the Actors' Guild. Seriously! Because this woman has ably convinced many people that she's pregnant. All those living in her area know she was pregnant . . . Elderly man misses A&E appointment because of garage queues A 75-year-old man has told of how he missed his emergency appointment at Barnet General Hospital in London thanks to traffic queueing for the nearby Esso garage. A final year student of Wisdom Hill International School at Aputuogya, a community in the Bosomtwe Constituency, Ashanti Region, Gloria Asare has been beaten mercilessly by teachers for failing to perform well in class assignment conducted. According to the victim, her Science and Maths teacher of the school, Abubakar Hackman laid down the girl on a table with Four (4) strong boys in the school and gave her (10) heavy lashes at the back and butt. Not satisfied with the punishment, he called his other colleague who were also the English and French teacher of the school, Emmanuel Boateng of which he also lashed out the girl. It is emerging that the nineteen year old girl fell unconscious and was rushed home by colleagues. Sources says when the girl was sent to the hospital for treatment, the health professionals who were shocked at the injury, advised the parents to report the matter to the police. The case was reported later to the Feyiase Police of which no arrest have been made.
