The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has expressed disappointment in some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying they are plotting to pull him down. Ghanaian transgender, Va-Bene Elikem Fiatsi, who is also a board member of the LGBTQ+ Right Ghana, has said it is lame to argue that LGBTQ+ activities will end procreation. According to her, some heterosexual men are impotent, and yet society does not chastise them for their inability to procreate. The Ghana Police Service has introduced shuttle services for its personnel. The intervention is meant to facilitate the movement of personnel to and from their places of residence to various duty points. One tech entrepreneur has added innovation to the earbuds economy with his own invention. Danny Manu, a Ghanaian-British man, developed earbuds that auto-translate other languages. According to Keepthefaith, the earbuds can live translate over 40 languages. The product, called Click, is said to be “the world’s first truly wireless earphones” with live voice translation supporting 40 languages. The wireless Bluetooth headset works by pairing to a smartphone. The earbuds then automatically detect the language being spoken and provide a spoken translation within a sentence or two. Click does not require internet like similar inventions. The device, which has been on the rise since its invention under the Mymanu brand, has won customers across Europe, U.S, and Asia. Manu tells Keepthefaith that the journey has been long and stressful, attributing his success to hard work and determination. Manu built his business through self-financing. This was down to the challenges Black startups in the UK face in accessing capital or venture funding. “Like all the other ethnic minority-run businesses within the UK, I had a hard time getting the funding and financial support from banks and government-funded programs that I needed,” he said. In the light of the above, Manu had to explore other means to raise funds for his startup. He used his personal savings, own sales, and funds he raised from crowdfunding sites. “If you truly believe in your product and ideas, you shouldn’t have too much trouble convincing other people to believe in them, too,” he said. Former Attorney General, Nii Ayikoi Otoo has advised the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, to eschew personal attacks and name-calling in his defense of the anti-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) bill. Nii Ayikoi Otoo made the observation on GTV after Sam George called out the members of the coalition against the bill for being condescending and not having a grasp of the details of the bill. Electoral Commission chairperson, Jean Mensa, has lamented deaths that occurred during the 2020 General Elections stressing that "one life lost is too many." She however holds that the events leading to the deaths could not in any way be pinned on the work of its officials adding that the deaths took place away from election centers. Power cuts at the new Kejetia Market located in the Ashanti Region have slowed down activities and led to the closure of shops on Wednesday. Management of the New Kejetia Market located in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region is indebted to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to the tune of GH¢2.1 million These arrears are for a six-month duration, according to the ECG. The Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD) has revealed that, from January to September 2021, some 2126 lives have been lost from 11, 858 road crashes in Ghana. According to the authority, 11,659 injuries were recorded from those road accidents within this space of time. The MTTD made these revelations when the Ministry for Transport organized a National Consultative Forum on Road Traffic Crashes and Review of the road traffic Act 2004 (Act 683) and Regulations 2012 (L.I. 2180) which was held in Accra. Speaking at the forum, a representative at the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Supt Dr. Samuel Sasu Mensah stressed that, those accidents which were recorded during those periods were caused by negligence which he says could be avoided by the individual drivers. He added that the increasing rate of crashes is a worrying situation which he believes the review of the regulations will help in addressing some of the challenges. Supt Dr. Sasu Mensah in his speech also revealed that the MTTD is also introducing new ideas and reforms which he says will help address some issues of corruption, reformation of traffic laws, and also minimizing indiscipline on the roads. On his part, The Minister of Transport, Hon Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has said Government take matters of public safety seriously and task MTTD to make operational guidelines. Speaking at a forum, the transport Minister stated that people are dying through unnecessary road accidents, as he says it is an indictment on all Ghana if one life is lost through an accident which he believes everyone has a role to play.
