The Leadership of the Ghana Drunkards Association is calling on the Ghana Police Service not rush in taking disciplinary actions but rather carefully scrutinise the officer who was captured drunk while in uniform in a video making waves on social media. According to the Association, a careful scrutiny, will help the Ghana Police Service unravel what pushed him to get drunk during working hours. In a statement released exclusively to Thinknewsonline.com, President of the Ghana Drunkards Association, Moses Onyah popularly known as Drybone said "Our attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media, where a police officer in uniform was seen drunk at Cape Coast in broad daylight. We will like the Police administration not to hasty to conclude and take disciplinary action, but rather scrutinize the officer in question emotionally. We believe strongly there are reasons that led to such unprofessional conduct" The Ghana Drunkards Association says it wishes to encourage its members and admirers to relax as the leadership is having a closed door meeting with the Police Administration to temper justice with mercy. The right hand of a one-year-old baby is rotting due to alleged medical negligence by a clinician at St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia in the Denkyembuor District in Eastern Region. The baby boy, a twin was admitted to the facility on November 31, 2021, for treatment of a childhood hernia. However, according to the nursing mother, a poorly inserted cannula by a clinician at the hospital led to swelling of the hand of the baby. The condition worsened within a few days at the hospital but urgent attention was not paid to the baby until the condition worsened. The baby was, however, discharged on December 31, 2021, without the intended surgery performed nor treatment of the cannula infection which led to an abscess of the hand. Dagadu Lydia, mother of the twins said she went back to the hospital to complain about the worsening condition of the baby but management refused to hear her. “They are twins. The elder twin is the one they have damaged the hand. I went to the hospital with the baby on November 31, 2021, and on December 4, 2021, a Doctor by the name Dr. Abu was trying to set the line for the cannula but was struggling to get the vein so he asked for help from another Doctor. The next day my baby’s hand was swollen. When I started complaining they came to take away the cannula. They further conducted a scan and told me the hand of the boy has damaged, that they need to cut off the damaged hand which I opposed. I insisted they explain to me what caused it but they refused”. Last week, Lydia mobilized her family members about nine of them, accompanied by a journalist stormed the hospital to meet Management of the facility but the Administrator of St. Dominic Hospital, A Catholic Priest identified as Rev.Fr Kenneth Abban yelled at the Journalist to go out. The Journalist, however, recused himself after 30 minutes standoff. The meeting however ended inconclusively as management failed to admit medical negligence on their part. When contacted, Rev.mFr Kenneth Abban, the administrator in Charge of St. Dominic Hospital said the injury of the baby was caused by a Juju man they sent the baby to. “They sent the baby to a Juju man and that is the cause. They came to even apologise to us ask her Uncle, ” Rev.Fr.Abban said. However, in swift rebuttal, the nursing mother Lydia Dagadu described Rev. Fr Abban as a liar who is being disingenuous. According to her, the condition of the boy occurred at the hospital and after a month of no treatment at the facility, invited a herbalist to assess the condition while at home after discharge. She however said the herbalist refused to attend to the baby because he said it was beyond his capacity. Lydia is threatening to sell her clothes to seek justice for her baby. “I can’t explain to my baby when he grows up why his hand was cut off. I can’t. So I will go all out to seek justice for him. The Leadership of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says it is cautioning the public against coagulated milk products from Nestle Ghana Limited. According to the FDA, this follows the receipt of consumer complaints and is in line with best regulatory practices. In a release signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Delese Mimi Darko, said "The FDA immediately requested Nestle to respond to the complaints and initiate a recall of affected batches. To date, the FDA has undertaken a comprehensive regulatory action to ensure that any safety concerns to consumers were immediately detected and dealt with" She also said "This process included, but not limited, to the following: (i) a complete Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Inspection of Nestle's manufacturing facility in Tema to establish the root cause of the coagulation of the evaporated milk; (ii) review of analytical reports, documentation of raw and packaging materials, and (iii) product analyses" A Microbial analysis was conducted on samples taken from the manufacturing facility and complaint samples at the FDA Laboratory. Meanwhile, results from the analysis indicated that there was no microbial contamination of samples and therefore there is no foÖd safety issue with the said coagulated milk products from Nestle. The analysis also confirmed that there was no leaching of dangerous chemicals from the inner (lacquer) lining into the milk product. So far, the root cause analysis indicates that the skimmed milk powder (raw material) used to produce the milk complained of has poor heat stability. This results in the denaturing of the protein leading to the coagulation of the milk" Thinkinewsonline.com has also gathered denatured protein however poses no health risk. "Based on the above, the underlisted batches of evaporated milk which were manufactured with the affected raw material are being recalled: Ideal Milk: 12651489, 12951489, 12961489, 13001489, 13031489, 13131489, 13161489, 13171489, 13341489, 13351489. Carnation Milk: 12901480, 12911489, 12931489, 12941489, 12951489, 12591489, 12601489, 12611489, 12651489, 13061489, 13071489, 13081489, 13091489, 13101489" The communique stressed that as of January 9, 2022, a total of 57,938 cans of the products have been retrieved by Nestle nationwide. The process is being monitored by the FDA. "Anybody in possession of Ideal and Carnation milk with the batch numbers listed above should return them to Nestle or any FDA offices nationwide. The FDA assures the public that its Industrial Support Department continues to work with Nestle to ensure that the quality defect would not recur. The FDA wishes to commend consumers for their alertness and to encourage them to continue reporting issues observed with any of its regulated products for the appropriate regulatory measures to be taken to ensure the health and safety of the public. The Black Stars of Ghana will be in action on Monday, January 10 as they face Morocco in the opening game at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. The fixture to be played at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo will see two of Africa’s heavyweights in the ongoing competition. While Ghana are hoping for a fifth AFCON title and their first since 1982, Morocco are also chasing a second continental triumph after last winning it in 1976, when they beat Guinea in the final. The Atlas Lions had a great qualifying journey to the competition, as they finished the campaign as group leaders in Group E. Morocco were also one of eight sides who finished the qualifying campaign without a loss, dropping just four points in the process. Making their 23rd appearance at the continental showpiece, the Black Stars will be playing their 100th game in the competition against Morocco. Ghana last won an AFCON in 1982, winning on penalties against Libya after a 1-1 scoreline after extra time. Since the 1982 triumph, Ghana have made three it to three different finals but have fallen short on each occasion – the latest being the loss to Ivory Coast in 2015. The west African side secured qualification to the tournament after winning four of their six qualifying games as they finished as group winners in Group C. The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of Nigeria’s National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mrs Margery Okadigbo says the Board is poised to ensure that the company succeeds in all its dealings. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been given a warning by Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu concerning Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. Mbaka warned that if anything happens to Kanu, the country will collapse. Mbaka spoke during a sermon at the adoration ground. He warned the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Federal Government against maltreating the secessionist. Mbaka, who explained that the IPOB leader is agitating for secession due to bad governance by wicked politicians in the country, said the FG should rather fix the problems that metamorphosed into secession agitation.
