The beautiful event came off at the National Theatre on Friday April, 8; 2022. It although there was a late start, patrons who made it the National Theatre had value for their monies. Gospel Trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus took the stage and thrilled the crowd with great performances. Hannah Marfo on the other hand charged the patrons when she also took to the stage. The seasoned Gospel Musician brought a new energy which left the patrons standing on their feet and dancing. Let us rather make peace, forgive each other and that is the essence of the festivity" Highlife Artist, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu known in showbiz as K.K. Fosu did not disappoint as he electrified the patrons when he took to the stage. The 'suudwe' hit maker gave his all and was cheered on by the patrons. Defying the odd hours, patrons of Passion Night did not show any signs fatigued but rather, sat patiently and waited till the Kumawood stars go unto the stage. Known for their great act, the Kumawood stars executed the journey to the cross concert to perfection. Each Artiste, nailed the various roles they were assigned. The patrons laughed, made merry and enjoyed the concert. Surprise acts of the Night, Dope Nation turned the National Theatre upside down when they climaxed the Passion Night with good music. Ever powerful Gospel Trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus have thrilled patrons with great performances at this year's Passion Night concert. The adorable sisters who took to the stage in high spirits sang most of their songs with a touch of class. The audiences could not hide their joy as they danced and jammed to the great performances. Known to be a group of three sisters, this year’s Passion Night concert saw only two sisters mounting the stage. However, the two sisters stood in for their other sister and nailed the performance. Passion Night is a concert powered by Think Media Expert and Kumahood stars. The concert depicts the journey of Christ to the cross. Ghanaian Actor, Van Vicker has showered praises on Kumawood Movie Director, Frank Fiifi Gharbin for believing in diversity and inviting him to be a part of the much-awaited Passion Night Concert. According to him, although he is not too comfortable with the local dialect he believe, more features will help do him lots of good. In an exclusive interview with Thinknewsonline.com, he said "I believe in diversity and I am honoured that Director Frank Fiifi Gharbin, invited me to be a part of this production" He also mentioned that although language might be a barrier, he believes that when given an appropriate direction, he will perform to perfection. The Actor who set to play the role of King Herod a concert dubbed Passion Night says he will not only thrill the patrons but surprise them as well. "It is Kumawood and I am part of them. I personally enjoy being on stage so for him to call me to be part.Year in and year out for the past two or three years, I have been missing out but this time, I was bent on being a part and I am here" He charged fellow directors to emulate the good works of Frank Gharbin. Lynx Entertainment Signee, Adjetey Anang has joined Ghanaians to pay tribute to the Late Veteran Actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio. According to him, the demise of the Veteran Actor comes as a shock and one he least expected. In an exclusive interview with Thinknewsonline.com, Mr. Anang said "Late Psalm Adjeteyfio has paid his dues and it is because of him that some of us are where we are today". Information reaching Thinknewsonline.com indicates that Veteran Ghanaian Film Actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio known by many as Master TT is dead. According to sources, the Late Actor died in the early hours of Friday 8th April, 2022. It is emerging that the Late Actor was found lying unconsciously in his room. His son raidlsed an alarm of which the Veteran Actor was rushed to the hospital. He was however pronounced dead. His body has been deposited at the morgue. The Late Actor was well known for his role in a popular Ghanaian movie 'Taxi Driver'. He also featured in other movies. He was 74 years old. The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A. Jinapor has clarified that his Ministry did not blow GHc10 Million on 10 conferences as speculated by the Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini. According to him, the allegation is false and has no factual basis. In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit, it said "The attention of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has been drawn to a story in a section of the media, where the Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, alleges that the Ministry spent Ten Million Ghana Cedis (GHS10,000,000) on ten (10) conferences and dialogues in the fight against galamsey. The Ministry wants to state, categorically, that the said allegation is false and has no factual basis" It will be recalled that President Akufo-Addo in his State of the Nation Address, last year, called for a national dialogue on illegal mining, which was threatening the country’s water bodies and environment, and directed that the necessary measures be taken to fight the canker. Pursuant to this directive, the Ministry organised a two-day national consultative dialogue on small scale mining at the Accra International Conference Centre, on 14th and 15th April, 2021, which brought together stakeholders from across the country, to agree on a common non-partisan approach to fight this menace. The statement further said "As a way of prudently managing the public purse, the Ministry adopted a strategy to bring together the regions and hold the dialogues on a zonal basis. Accordingly, two regional dialogues were held in Kumasi for the forest zone and Tamale for the savannah zone. In addition to the Dialogues, the Ministry undertook a working visit to all the sixteen (16) regions of our country, where we engaged various stakeholders to solicit their support to fight illegal mining" It is emerging that among the stakeholders engaged included; The Council of State, National House of Chiefs, the Regional Houses of Chiefs of all sixteen (16) regions, Regional Ministers of all sixteen (16) regions, The Regional Security Councils of all sixteen regions (16) regions, The Ghana Chamber of Mines, The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM), Civil Society Organisations in the mining sector; and Miners in the field. The cost of all these, and many other programmes and policies being implemented by the Ministry, including the revamping of the Community Mining Schemes, the establishment of Small Scale Mining Committees in the various mining districts of our country, the resourcing the Minerals Commission, and the introduction of the mercury-free gold katcha, form part of the Ministry’s expenditure on the fight against illegal scale mining. The battle against illegal Mining requires the collective and nationalistic effort of every Ghanaian, Hon. George Mireku Duker, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in charge of mines has said. According to him, the battle to protect the country’s water bodies hinges on the a concerted efforts of all Ghanaians. Delivering a speech during the inauguration of the six District Mining Committees in the Western North region on Thursday April 7, 2022, Hon. George Mireku Duker noted that government’s determination to curb illegal Mining (galamsey) would be unsuccessful if it does not get the buy-in of stakeholders. Whiles commending the members of the six committees for agreeing to serve the country, Hon. Duker served a reminder that they have been entrusted with a difficult and delicate job which is of national importance. He asserted that, Ghanaians especially inhabitants of the respective districts will be looking up to the them to undertake measures that will protect the waterbodies and address the peculiar challenges facing the Mining sector in those areas. Spelling out the duties of the committees, Hon. Duker said they have a supervisory role to ensure that the responsible Mining methods spelt out in Act 703 are adhered to by Mining companies in their jurisdiction. He charged them to rise above personal interest and show dedication, discipline and punctuality in the discharge of their duties. He implored the committee members to ensure that at the heart of every decision they take should be in the interest of the state. Hon. Duker who doubles as the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem said, the committee owe Ghanaians a responsibility to manage the Mining architecture in their respective areas whiles advancing that government ‘s Community Mining Scheme is a more sustainable and responsible gold-extractive method which should be embraced and promoted in the districts. Hon. Duker offered that the Community Mining Scheme is the ideal way of actualizing President Akufo-Addo’s dream of building local giants in the Mining industry and the onus lie on the District Mining Committees to promote it. The six districts in the Western North region who had members of their District Mining Committee sworn in includes Sehwi Wiawso, Bibiani, Suaman, Bodi, Juaboso and Akontombra. Inaugurating the Ahafo Regional Lands Commission at a colourful ceremony held at Goaso on Thursday, 7th April, 2022, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio asserts that an efficient and decentralised land administration system in Ghana, will boost investor confidence especially in the six new regions of the country. Hon. Owusu-Bio said the move to establish regional offices for the Lands Commission is in furtherance to article 260(1) of the 1992 constitution which provides "that Lands Commission shall have a branch in each region to be known as Regional Lands Commission for the performance of functions specified in article 258 of this constitution". He further highlighted some key importance of the Lands Commission in the region saying "Lands Commission here, on behalf of the government, shall manage public lands and any other lands vested in the President by the constitution or by any other law and any lands vested in the commission, advise the government, local authorities and traditional authorities on the policy framework for the development of particular areas of the country, to ensure the development of individual pieces of land coordinated with the relevant development plan for the area concerned, among other important services". He then opined that the provision of formal land administration services is at the core of every sector of the economy, adding that land administration services including survey and mapping, valuation of property, rating state land acquisition, among others are all critical services that help propel the socio-economic growth of the country. Hon. Benito believes that the decentralisation agenda of the Lands Commission will ensure that efficient land administration services delivery is brought to the doorstep of every Ghanaian. He noted that " What is unique about the establishment of offices in the new regions is that the offices will operate in a fully digital environment" which he said will help achieve speed and reduce the usual delays associated with processing of documents in a manual environment. "The era when applicants have to travel for hours from Goaso, Mimi, Duayaw Nkwanta and others to access land administration services in Sunyani has become a thing of the past and thus, the unofficial cost associated with it will now reduce drastically". Nana Ansah Adu Baah, the Omanhene of Yamfo, who also doubles as the President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs expressed delight for the honour done him and for the opportunity given him to steer the affairs of the inaugural ceremony. He described the importance of land as a valuable asset of every community and nation and therefore expressed his joy to see such development in his community and submitted to the Chiefs and the people of the Goaso traditional area to come together and work collaboratively with the new officers of the Commission for the development of Goaso and the entire Ahafo Region. "Lets work together to ensure that those disputes that comes with land administration are not associated with us. I am particularly happy about this development and I hope we for our own it for our progress" The Nana also expressed his sincerest gratitude to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for keeping his promise to equipment the new regions with all necessary tools to function. The National Chairman of the Lands Commission, Mr. Alex Quaynor in his remarks said the purpose of the Ahafo Regional Office is to ensure that residents are drawn closer to government in the administration of their Lands. He said per the New Land Act, Act 1036, government requires that all land owners register their Lands through the proper process and therefore hoped that the residents of Goaso and for that matter Ahafo Region will take advantage of this opportunity and do the needful for utmost development. He noted that the establishment of the new office requires that the staff of the Commission will be up and doing to ensure land administration services are carried out professionally. "As pioneers, the new staff posted here, we expect that you work hand in hand with the traditional authorities and the land owners for a peaceful land administration here in the Ahafo Region" Mr. Quaynor also respectfully requested that Nananom and the family land owners also remain patient with staff members of the commission as they begin their operations in the region and also corporate with them. The Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Mr. James Dadson in his speech indicated that the newly commissioned office is the first of it's kind in the Ahafo Region while disclosing that two offices have already been inaugurated in the Western North Region and the Oti Regions, making this the third in the row among the six new regions. He assured the Chiefs and people of Goaso that Ahafo Regional office will fully serve the purpose for which it was established. "This is a public office and we will do everything to ensure that land administration here is carried out effectively and efficiently and so please  Remember that we are here to serve the public and that is our number one goal" He stressed. ECOBANK Ghana PLC has on Wednesday, 6th April, 2022 contributed their widow's mite towards the rebuilding of the Eco-friendly Appiatse Community with a sum of 100,000 Ghana Cedis at a brief event in Accra. The presentation was led by the Bank's Managing Director Mr. Daniel Sackey who also doubles as the Regional Executive for Anglophone Africa. Mr. Sackey in a brief remark said the contribution towards the fund was a direct response to a call by the Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee. He explained that "In response to a direct request from the chairperson of the fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, we needed as a team, to demonstrate that we see Appiatse as part of the Country not only because we operate in the area but every person in Ghana deserves to be supported when tragedy occurs" Mr. Daniel Sackey also hoped that the donation from the financial institution will bring back smiles on the faces of the People in the community. He further underscored the need for compliance on the part of companies and individuals, saying that if companies and organizations fail in the line of work to properly ensure that due processes are met, there will be reoccurrences of similar incidents. He added that "individuals, also have to be compliant during tragedies, such as not walking straight to accidents scene" when they occur. Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee on her part, expressed her gratitude to the Bank officials reiterating the earlier statement by Mr. Daniel Sackey on the need for compliance and safety during disasters. She emphasized that "our curiosity moved us towards danger when it should have moved us away". She further stated that the unfortunate incident at Appiatse was unplanned, however, "we can avert serious damage when we learn to comply with the rules that are already set". Rev. Dr. Aryee in her submission also disclosed that the Appiatse Reconstruction and Implementation Team have already began preliminary works for the reconstruction of the Appiatse township. "People will have slightly better houses than they had before and the community will be eco-friendly, with a green idea like recycling and water harvesting "she maintained. Rev Dr. Aryee concluded her insightful remarks by encouraging other institutions and individuals to support and donate generously to the fund since the monies accumulated so far are not adequate to support the rebuilding and restoration of Livelihoods. The Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) has been charged to lead in the energy to waste sector also known as green energy. The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who made the call on Thursday, April 7, 2022, following an inspection tour of the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (ACARP) at Adjen-Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality, Greater Accra, assured that the government was ready to support any private entity that will venture into the green energy space. According to her, though investing in the waste to energy space was capital intensive, she was confident JGC, with its track record, would be able to marshall the needed resources to undertake such a project. In this vein, she commended the JGC for its continuous 'huge investment" in the water and sanitation space. That, she said, was evident in the group's completed and and ongoing waste management projects across the country. "We will continue to encourage and support them [JGC] to grow higher," she assured. After being conducted around the plant by the General Manager (GM) of ACARP, Mr. Michael Padi Tuwor, Madam Dapaah expressed her satisfaction with operations at the facility. "I am very impressed with operations at ACARP because they have lived up to expectation," she gladly expressed. For the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR), she emphasised that it was crucial that there were projects like ACARP to help add value to waste in the country. "Where would we have put the 7,149,922 tons of waste Ghana generates yearly if there were no projects like ACARP"? she quizzed. Against this background, Madam Dapaah praised members of the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) for their contributions towards waste management. She also used the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of waste separation first in the homes. "The country must also wean itself from open defecation, and desist from the practice of including solid waste to faecal sludge," she advised. She indicated that her ministry was consciously sensitising Ghanaians on the need to bury organic materials for compost and ensure that inorganic materials were transported to transfer stations and facilities such as ACARP. "Our doors are still open for proposals and ideas," she said. The minister lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his vision to ensure a clean Ghana. "We must continue to pray for the President for his empathy in providing Ghanaians with free water for 15 months which helped save lives during the early months of the Covid," she said. She described the Executive Chairman of JGC, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, as a man with a "soft ear" to proposals and ideas. "He also believes in women, a risk-taker and has the can-do spirit which makes a lot of impact," she said. The GM of ACARP, Mr. Michael Padi Tuwor, thanked Madam Dapaah and her team for the visit. A Chancellor of a Fake University, Professor Ezekiel Bangura, has been arrested by the Sierra Leonean police for awarding Honorary Doctorate Degrees to some persons under a mango tree in Kerry Town, Waterloo, Sierra Leone. According to the Police, the Chancellor is currently assisting in investigations. It is alleged that the Management of the ‘fake’ University collected five and seven million Leones for Honorary Doctorate Degrees awarded recently to some people. The fake university in question, Dominion Christian University, organised their graduation ceremony on Saturday 2 April 2022 under a mango tree in Kerry Town, Waterloo, and social media was awash with videos of the ceremony. On 16th March 2022, the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in a press release stated that the institution is not accredited to operate in Sierra Leone and directed them to cancel their planned award ceremony on 26th March. In response, the management of Dominion University issued a press statement on Friday 1 April 2022, debunking the statement from TEC on their status in the country. They said that they are globally recognized and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and the Western Area Rural District Council. The Tertiary Education Committee, a day ago, along with a team of OSD and CID officers, raided the Kissy Town neighborhood in Waterloo, where the alleged fake university was conferring fake Honourary Doctorate Degrees to Sierra Leoneans. According to police sources, the CID personnel were informed of the University’s illegal activities and were dispatched immediately. Prof Ezekiel Bangura and several others who were arrested are currently assisting the police with their investigations. The Ministry of Energy has rubbished claims by the Former Minister for Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor saying Ghana will not go back to 'dumsor'. According to the Ministry, it is rejecting the assertion by the Former Power Minister that there is a risk of returning to 'dumsor' by virtue of the state of generational capacity. In a statement signed by Communications and Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry, it said "We wish to urge Dr. Donkor to first seek the correct information on this and similar issues from the Ministry in future before going Public with pronouncements that are not only incorrect but also have the tendency to mislead the public and cause unnecessary concerns" The statement further urged Ghanaians to be rest assured that the Ministry of Energy under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh remains committed to solving every challenge in the generation, transmission and distribution system of the energy sector.
