“Visiting Delegations Will Be Required To Provide A Negative 72-Hour PCR Test" - Ayorkor Botchwey

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has hinted that the visiting delegation who will be gracing the inauguration ceremony of President Akufo-Addo will be required to provide a negative 72-Hour PCR Test before entering the country.
According to her, the move will help reduce the spread of covid-19 among the populace.
Addressing Journalists at a news conference in Accra on Tuesday, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said "The Committee has been minded by the COVID-19 protocol of social distancing, which will be adhered to. As part of the protocol guidelines drawn up for the ceremony, visiting delegations will be required to provide a negative 72-hour PCR test before they are admitted into the country"
She also explained that participants at the ceremony will be required to keep their face masks on at all times adding it will help in the strict observation of the COVID-19 protocols.
Explaining the work of the Inauguration Committee, she mentioned that it has commenced its work following the constitution of the Presidential Transition Team, which was necessitated by the declaration of the election results, conducted on 7th December 2020.
"Twelve (12) Heads of State and Government have so far confirmed their participation for the Swearing-in Ceremony. More confirmations are expected as the date draw close. Other foreign dignitaries have also confirmed their participation" she mentioned.
On his part, Director of Operations at the Accra Regional Command of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit (MTTU), Supt. Sosu-Mensah revealed that streets such as Osu Cemetery Traffic Light on the Lokko Street, Castle Road from AU Circle to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, Crossroad heading towards Starlet 95 Street, Independence Arch near the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Gamel Abdul Nasser Avenue (Ghana Institute of Journalism) Road on the Haile Selassie Street and Opeibea, 37 Military Interchange and Ako Adjei on the Liberation Road will be closed during the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on Traffic Diversions, he said "Motorists from Lokko Street are expected to use the 28th February Road through John Evans Attah Mills Street to the Central Business District (CBD) or pass through the Oxford Street through Danquah Circle to Ring Road Central enroute to Kwame Nkrumah Circle and thence to their destination"
"Traffic from AU Roundabout towards the Castle Road through Osu Cemetery will be onto the Independence Avenue through El Sinousi Street in front of the Ghana Institute of Journalism on the Haile Selassie Street. Traffic from CBD – Kinbu on the Independence Avenue will be diverted on the Barnes Road and Liberia Road to link up to Kanda and thence to Madina" he mentioned.
He also warned that persons without accreditation or pass should not get closer to the ground adding vehicles wrongful parked at the cordoned areas will be towed with owners punished.
