Chairman of Neoplan Drivers Union, Paul Kwabena Badu Aidoo says following President Akufo-Addo's address on Sunday ordering vehicle operators to operate at full capacity, he has asked his men to reduce price of fares for passengers who ply the services of their buses.

According to him, the move comes after President Akufo-Addo eased restrictions in the transport sector adding that he is grateful to the Akufo-Addo government for putting back smiles on their faces.

In an exclusive interview with Think Tv on the sidelines of vehicle operators operating at full capacity, the Chairman said "I am very happy. We were not having it easy with the social distance directive. It was really affecting business. After listening to the President, I have asked my men to reduce the cars for the passengers"

He added that before the introduction of wearing of nose-mask and washing of hands by President Akufo-Addo, his union were already practicing it.

He appealed to passengers who feel unwell not to board their buses to avoid the spread of the virus.

"The drivers used to go for 15 to 20 trips and returned with sales between GHc1, 800 to GHc2000. But due to the restrictions and Covid-19, it reduced the sales" he added

He urged the drivers to be good pacesetter adding that they should wear their face mask and drive safely.

A station master, Kwabena Essuman said" We are happy that things have returned to normalcy"

He however added that reducing the fares will be a bit difficult stressing that some locations even deserves double payments from passengers.

A driver, Egya warned that passengers who fail to adhere to the directives will be handed over to the police at the various check points.

Some passengers who spoke to Think Tv disagreed with the directive.
