It's been over 36 hours since the polls closed. The NDC has restrained itself from saying it has won the elections, even though the NPP has thrown in the towel and has congratulated John Dramani Mahama. Isn't it surprising that both the NDC and the NPP have gotten their results from the same declaration sheets the EC signed and released, yet the EC doesnt have its results. This is the institution that placed adverts on why the EC can not steal the elections and can not gift position on the ballot to anyone. You trust Jean Mensa at your own peril. I have never seen any elections in Ghana where ballot papers, pinksheets, ballot boxes, stamppads, etc, have been scattered freely like this. Were you surprised when the NPP kept saying they would win with strategy, while others said bluntly they would steal the elections? There are lawyers who win cases because they know the judge, others win elections because they know the Eectoral Commissioner. Peace-preneurs are now calling on the NDC to allow calm to prevail since tension is mounting in the country. These same people ignored the call from the NDC on the dangers of appointing partisan people to the Electoral Commission. Here we are!!! Where an old man can sit and see, a young man can stand on mountains but can not see. Dr. Bawumiah's concession and the wide margin of victory for NDC have saved this nation. Jean Mensa would have shown us something small if the results were to be neck to neck. Why would a woman with children act this way? As I put this piece together, it would suprise many to know that the 2020 election results have not been gazetted because of the shady deals she did to push Akuffo Addo to cross the 50% mark. Many people do not know why we went to court without emphasis on pink sheets. We were contesting her declared results and not the pinksheet exhibition. 49% can never be 50+1. Today, she stands exposed and disgraced. How many people would have to die, how many more people would have to suffer? Her tenure has been filled with bloody elections and must be condemned. Can you imagine if we went into this election without the indelible ink she proposed? We would have been counting lifeless bodies on the street. God indeed is a Ghanaian and has seen us through another turbulent season, and we can only say 'to God be the glory.' The woman who was in a hurry to declare in 2020 can not find her feet in 2024. Some scores of angry youth in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have accused electoral officials of manipulating the results of the December 7 parliamentary elections. They claim their candidate, Felix Odartey Lamptey, was robbed of victory. According to Shadrach Acquah, a spokesperson for the group, their candidate initially emerged victorious after five recounts at the collation center. However, he alleges the process was disrupted by Lawyer Jerry Shaib, the incumbent MP and parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who allegedly refused to sign the results. "We were told that our candidate, Felix Odartey Lamptey, had won the elections. But Lawyer Jerry Shaib stormed polling stations with armed policemen and military personnel, forcing the process to halt. When asked to provide the pink sheets proving his victory, he could not do so," Mr. Acquah said in an interview with ThinkNewsOnline.com . The angry youth also revealed that they intercepted and burned eight ballot boxes, which they claim contained ballot papers which were fake. Videos obtained by ThinkNewsOnline.com allegedly show ballot boxes cointaining papers being brought to the collation centre under suspicious circumstances around 3 a.m. on Sunday The angry youth are questioning the EC officials of how events unfolded for Lawyer Jerry Shaib Ahmed who had lost the Parliamentary seat turn out victorious suddenly. The angry NDC youth added that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have held the Weija-Gbawe seat for the past 24 years with no improvement and development. Mr. Acquah further accused a retired Electoral Commission (EC) official, identified as Mr. Danquah, of unlawfully declaring Jerry Shaib as the winner. "This retired presiding officer was not even assigned to the collation center. His actions raise serious questions about the integrity of the process," he added. The youth have threatened to take legal action if their concerns are not addressed. "We will proceed to court and seek an injunction on the results if immediate steps are not taken to rectify this injustice," Acquah warned. The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on the Ghana Police Service to swiftly deploy personnel to constituency collation centres across the country to remove party supporters whose presence is disrupting the collation process. This appeal was made by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairperson of the EC in charge of Operations, during a press conference held in the early hours of December 8, 2024. Mr. Tettey explained that the large crowds of supporters from various political parties gathered at the collation centres are hindering the smooth collation of certified results. He stressed the need for immediate intervention by security personnel to restore order. “The Police must step in,” Mr. Tettey stated firmly. “The presence of supporters is impeding the process. The results being collated at the centres have already been recorded on the pink sheets at the polling stations, so there is no need for them to be there.” He further urged political parties to exercise restraint and withdraw their supporters from the collation centres, emphasizing that the Electoral Commission would not accept any results produced outside of due process. “The activities of these supporters are not only unnecessary but also obstructive.
