The National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has described the 55-page report of the Three (3)- Member Ministerial Committee of Inquiry which was set up to investigate the circumstances that led to the disturbances, shootings, injuries, and death of some persons in Ejura in the Ashanti Region of Ghana on the 29th of June, 2021 as a poor attempt at a cover-up. According to Sammy Gyamfi, after an objective and painstaking examination, it has discovered that the report is full of faulty findings, flawed conclusions, and deficient recommendations, calculated to shield from accountability the murderers of a social activist, Ibrahim Muhammed aka “Macho Kaaka” and the perpetrators of the subsequent state-sponsored killings in Ejura by the military. This warning letter from the Police followed efforts by the assigns of the then Municipal Chief Executive for Ejura, Salisu Bamba to silence and cower Kaaka over his “Fix the Country” activism. To have ignored this material fact and rather come to such a contrived finding of a family feud easily gives the Justice Koomson Committee out as one with an agenda to twist the facts right from the word go” he said. As a matter of fact, it was on the basis of this first account by Sadia Fuseini that Ibrahim Issaka, a.k.a Anyass, and Fuseini Alhassan, all of whom are known bodyguards of the former Ejura MCE, Salisu Bamba, were arrested a day after Kaaka’s murder” “Also, we find it quite strange and unacceptable that the Committee made no efforts to verify the in-camera testimony of Aminu Mohammed who testified of the existence of a feud between Kaaka and his brother, Iddi. Per our checks and as he himself confirmed when he appeared before the Committee, Aminu Mohammed lived in Burkina Faso and was not in Ejura when Kaaka was murdered and at the time of the Ejura disturbances. Aminu Mohammed provided no evidence to buttress his claim that Kaaka before his gruesome murder had caused the arrest of his brother Iddi sometime in 2020, and could not even tell the Committee the offense Iddi was arrested for. Also, Aminu provided no evidence to buttress his claim that Iddi traveled to Nigeria immediately after his arrest and detention in 2020, which claim has been refuted by the Kaaka’s family. Yet, the committee wholeheartedly relied on his in-camera testimony without verifying the same from the Police or Kaaka’s family. There is no indication whatsoever in the 55-page report of the committee that they took any steps to verify Aminu Mohammed’s claim about the existence of a feud between Kaaka and his brother, Iddi before they came to the findings and conclusions contained in their report” he said. Journalists numbering about six from the state-owned media and the Multimedia group were on Tuesday allegedly prevented and assaulted by the bodyguards of the President's nominee Mr Edward Owusu and some police officers stationed at Atebubu during the coverage of the election to confirm the MCE for Atebubu Amantin. The journalists; Mr Anas Sabit Joynews Regional correspondent, Mr Michael Tatsu Citi News, Jerry Azanduna Ghana News Agency, Christine Ofori Kumah Adom TV, Frederick Antwi UTV and Appiah Kubi Brong Ahafo TV were allegedly harassed. This reporter noted that supporters of the nominee attempted seizing cameras and gadgets from the reporters when they protested the plan to block them from entering the meeting hall to cover proceedings of the confirmation. Mr Tsatsu, the Citi FM's reporter was allegedly hooked on the neck by one of the boys identified as Mr Ubiadu Shaibu, the NPP Deputy Constituency Youth Organizer believe to be a supporter of the nominee and his camara taken from him. According to the reporter, the President nominee stormed out from the meeting and allegedly instructed the security personnel from the Ghana Police Service in Atebubu not to allow any media personnel inside to observe proceedings of the exercise. Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who stirred worldwide controversy in 2007 with drawings depicting the Prophet Mohammad with the body of a dog, was killed in a car crash near the southern town of Markaryd on Sunday, police said. Vilks, 75, who had been living under police protection since the drawings were published, was traveling in a police vehicle that collided with a truck. Two police officers were also killed. Social media services Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are back up and running after an outage that lasted almost six hours, Facebook says. The company says the cause was a faulty configuration change. All three services are owned by Facebook and could not be accessed over the web or on smartphone apps. The Administrator of the National Premix Fuel Secretariat, Nana Abrokwa Asare has revealed that the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture is pushing for the digitization of the premix fuel system to avoid its hoarding and re-sale to fishermen in the country. A 27-year-old woman has allegedly beheaded her husband Lartey Daniel, 35, in a bizarre circumstance at My God Village at Tei Glover, a farming Community near Akyem Bosuso in Fanteakwa South District in Eastern Region. The grand finale of Ghana’s Most Beautiful is happening at the National Theatre and the results are out. The fourth position went to Wedaga from the Upper East region. Akosua, the Oti region’s representative, is the fifth runner-up with a cash prize of Gh2,000. The sixth runner-up for GMB 2021 is Mfodwo representing the Bono region of Ghana.
