President of the Shatta Movement, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known in showbiz as Shattawale has revealed that it is false publications from some section of the media that has made the populace to tag him as rude, demonic and disrespectful brand. According to him, populace will do away with such tags once bloggers stop publishing fake news about him. Speaking exclusively to Thinknewsonline.com, at the Police Headquarters in Accra, the Dancehall Artiste said “It is false publication that has made Shattawale; demonic, rude and disrespectful Artiste and brand but I will say I work with a whole lot of companies and the police officers here are my dad” The SM Boss also hinted that the bloggers are giving players in the Creative Arts Industry problems especially him. “That is one thing we really need to touch on because most of the bloggers are giving us problems especially me. People meet me and they think, I am rude and I don’t respect. I have all these people around who love me and I think it was a very good thing that they raised” he noted. Sharing his thoughts on the IGP’s meeting with players in the Creative Arts Industry, Shattawale described the move by Dr. Dampare as historic saying no police administration has ever come up with such initiative. Shattawale also revealed that industry players not being together is one of the reasons they are finding problems in the industry. “About the security in our industry and the IGP has made a good point to bring us all together because he was talking about togetherness, we not being together is the reason we are finding problems in the industry so I believe that since this has happened, I think most of my colleagues are going to change their mindsets on how the work should go and we can build this with the police force as a team” he mentioned. He also described the meeting as historic adding that this is the first time an IGP has met with players in the Creative Arts Industry. He charged his fellow colleagues to learn the discipline of the industry so all can be able to survive. Advising the police, Shattawale said “I expect them to play their roles as policemen because I believe they have been police men and they have been policing well. I can say that I don’t have any problem with any policeman. Ghanaian Artiste Manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson has described the act where some media personnel publish false news about other people in order to make money and generate traffic for their site(s) or blog(s) as stupid. According to Bulldog, such practice is unprofessional and needs to be curbed. In an exclusive interview with Thinknewsonline.com, after a meeting with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Artiste Manager said “I think it’s a very sad situation and if I am supposed to choose my words well, I will say it is stupid for anybody to want to publish false news” “What will drive you to put out false information and to what end? Is it monetary?” The Artiste Manager who described ‘money’ as ‘cheap’ further questioned; what will one gain from tarnishing the image of another. “So I don’t know why someone will mess up the image of another for financial gains and I think we should put a clamp to it. Bulldog commended the IGP for granting audience to the Creative Arts Industry and was confident that the State Security Institution will protect the lives of he and his colleagues. “I think it’s a good call and I don’t think it should be a one-day event, it should continue. I think every quarter of the year, we should assemble and discuss with the police, the various stance we do among others” the Artiste Manager disclosed. “I know some of these stances go overboard but if we reach a consensus, we could do it better and we will have a lot of room to operate in our space,” he said. He charged his fellow Creative Arts Industry players to be law-abiding stressing that being tagged a ‘Celebrity’ in Ghana does not make such individuals above the laws of the land. “We should also understand that we are not demi-gods and we should understand that we can be touched or the law can grip us when it has to. The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says it is sad to announce the collapse of its communication mast on its GRIDCo Towers near Bogoso in the Western Region. According to GRIDCo, the unfortunate incident has affected the national power system and may result in some load management. In a statement signed by its Corporate Communications and sighted by Thinknewsonline.com, it said " On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, a communication mast collapsed and fell on the 330kV Aboadze-Kumasi Transmission line, resulting in the collapse of two adjacent towers. The incident happened near Bogoso in the Western Region" The statement also noted that GRIDCo is working around the clock to replace the fallen towers within the shortest possible time. GRIDCo further stressed that it is committed to maintaining a stable network for reliable and effective power delivery. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused", the statement concluded. According to him, although the poor cannot teach the rich how to spend his or her money, he was expecting the young CEO to have make one or two lucky customer(s) his special guest at his occasion. In a Facebook post which has gone viral, Isaac Andoh said "You cannot gather our 3, 3 cedis and use it for such a huge festival without inviting any of us" He further added that the CEO could have ordered his workers to slot a cute invitation card into one or two of the pies which the lucky buyer(s) who have had the opportunity to travel to Kumasi to catch a glimpse of the much talked about wedding. A Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr. Amin Adam, has called for a global compact on the energy transition to address Africa’s peculiar circumstances. He made this call when he addressed a gathering of African energy stakeholders at the maiden edition of the African Energy Week (AEW) in Cape Town, South Africa. Re-emphasizing Ghana’s current position on the global advocacy for energy transition, Dr. Adam underscored the need for the conversation of cleaner energy to be had within the context of Africa’s current growth trajectory. To address the inequalities in the global energy space, the Deputy Minister, who is also the MP for Karaga, called for a global compact on the energy transition which would ensure that European banks vary financing policies in favour of oil and gas projects in Africa. He said under a special dispensation and sanction waiver, African producers divert a portion of the funding to develop high integrity carbon credits through reforestation and carbon removals, thus effectively offsetting a portion of the hydrocarbons they continue to produce. African natural gas he says has been given the status as transition fuel for a longer period to allow gas reserves to be used when displacing a more carbon intense fossil fuel globally such as coal. “The energy transition should not be divorced from the necessity for universal energy access as there are about 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa that have no access to electricity”, Dr. Amin said. “Reduction in carbon-based energy consumption through energy efficiency should be promoted in Africa, as Africa’s emissions remain very low”, he added. To further re-establish the position of Ghana, the Deputy Minister referred to a statement articulated at the COP 26 in Glasgow by President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. In his address, the President stated “The Almighty has blessed our lands with abundant natural resources, and it would be wholly unfair for the world to demand that Africa abandons the exploitation of these same resources needed to finance her development and help us to cope better with the threat of climate change, at a time when many countries on the continent have only just discovered them. Ghana acknowledges the importance and effects of Climate Change, and the urgent need to combat it, and we acknowledge equally the importance of protecting our development. We believe that a balance must be struck and maintained between our social, economic and environmental imperatives” The Africa Energy Week is the African Energy Chamber’s first ever interactive exhibition and networking event that seeks to unite African Energy stakeholders to drive industry growth and development and promote Africa as a destination of African-focused events. The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested suspect Dordzi Dzidefo, who has been on the run since July last year, for alleged robbery and raped committed on July 13, 2021. According to the police, the suspect who is a motorbike operator, was hired by his victim from Kakasunanka No.1 to Golf City. In a statement signed by the Director-General, Public Affairs, Kwesi Ofori, it said "However, on their return around 12:00 midnight, the suspect took a different route under the pretext of evading a Police checkpoint but ended up robbing the victim at knifepoint and raping her" The statement also added that further investigations disclosed that the suspect on July 16, 2021, cashed out an amount of Two Hundred and Forty-Seven Ghana Cedis (GHc247.00) from the victim's mobile wallet into his MTN mobile wallet. On November 1, 2021, the suspect, Dordzi Dzidefo was arrested at his hideout at Kakasunanka No.1 through a sustained intelligence-led operation. He says many media personnel, including himself, lambasted Mr. Mahama when some newspapers and portals reported of his (Mahama) acquisition of properties in the United Arab Emirates. Captain Smart says his personal tour in Dubai to investigate the said properties acquired by the former president revealed the reports were falsified, but couldn’t admit and apologise then due to shame and how disappointed he was with the said dailies that carried the story. He has dared anyone with the address of any property belonging to Mahama in Dubai to present it for him to resign. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, said vaccination cards will confirm access into event venues come December. Mark Okraku Mantey added that those without the cards would be denied entry. He added that the government has to put these checks in place to prevent any eventualities after the December festivities. According to him, people without Covid -19 vaccination will not be allowed entry into the places they might have bought tickets for. In a report filed by StarrNews.com, Okraku Mantey said the government has outlined requirements and guidelines to control and avoid the spread of COVID-19 during the December festivities. He said people who have not been vaccinated and do not have vaccination cards would not be allowed entries to social gatherings. “Vaccination cards will be required to enter, you must show that you have been vaccinated to be able to enter” He also added that children above the age of five would be required to wear a mask which would only be removed during eating and drinking. The Deputy Tourism Minister explained that if government does not put some checks and balances in place, there is the likelihood of challenges after December. Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has lamented the low turnout of people for the vaccination exercise in the country despite the availability of the COVID-19 vaccines. Dr. Kwame Amponsah Achiano, the Programmes Manager of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation at the GHS revealed that the country has a lot of vaccines in store but the people are not turning out to be inoculated. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has expressed its willingness to partner Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), particularly its subsidiary company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL), and other waste management companies to keep the country clean. The Executive Director of EPA, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who made this observation, expressed that the state agency was pleased with the activities of Zoomlion, stressing that it will collaborate more with the company to save the environment. He added that EPA was poised to open its doors to collaborative work with private players in the waste management space to ensure their works are backed by compliance. He, therefore, commended all private waste companies, especially Zoomlion, for their relentless efforts to rid the city of filth. However, Dr Kokofu underscored that EPA will not hesitate to apply sanctions to whoever would want to thwart the efforts of the private enterprises in the field of their work by not complying with rules and regulations. According to him, metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) have the responsibility to effectively manage waste within their jurisdictions. He therefore, urged the MMDAs to step up their game in the management and disposal of waste while urging Ghanaians to brace themselves to the reality of paying a bit more to ensure proper waste management in their communities. “We must have a concerted effort in dealing with the waste we generate. The consciousness of the nation must be awaken, and all the religious and traditional leaders must join in awakening of this consciousness among Ghanaians,” Dr Kokofu said. The EPA boss made the remarks on the back of a presentation by JGC at the ongoing COP 26 meeting at the UN Climate Change Conference on what the company was doing to help the country address the negative impact of climate change. He said the EPA will also be monitoring every stage of the country’s waste disposal value chain. This, he explained, will ensure the government gets value for money in the management and disposal of waste. He explained that the EPA’s decision was to enable them track where and how especially electric wastes were being disposed. The collaboration with the private sector, he said, would be directed towards seeing the “point source of waste collection, particularly electrical and electronic waste, where they are being collected? The quantum collected? And then where they are being transported to? The off-taker facility that would help them use them as raw materials to the recycling plant.” This when done, he said, will “help us as the nation to have data on how much we are collecting.” Meanwhile, Zoomlion has welcomed the decision of EPA to monitor every stage of Ghana’s waste disposal value chain. According to the company, the move spur them on to continue to deliver quality services. At the ongoing world climate change summit, the Consultant, Engineering, Design and Projects Department, AFESC, Mr Israel Boakye Acheampong, in a presentation, explained that JGC was using the opportunity presented at the COP26 to show its contributions to the climate change space with innovative ideas to sustainably manage waste in Ghana with positive impact on climate. He stressed the need for strategic partnerships to augment JGC’s skills. His presentation focused on JGC’s integrated waste management approach that combines innovation, technology and management based on reuse, recycling, recovery and safe disposal of waste since 2006. He said JGC was ready to make effective use of various technical and financial opportunities at the COP26 to accelerate its support for Ghana in mitigating the impact of climate change. To address indiscriminate dumping and burning of waste in Ghana, Mr Boakye Acheampong noted that Zoomlion had hugely invested in storage facilities with bins and collection systems in the country, which had improved waste collection from homes, from about four per cent in 2006 to about 21 per cent in 2021. For her part, the Managing Director of Africa Environmental Sanitation Consult, the research wing of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), Dr Abena Antwi Asomaning, who is also at the climate change summit, minced no words in asserting that activities of Ghanaians have contributed to the climate change condition. “If not anything how people throw about things in the environment, even work to do, relationship and even how people dump things in the sea,” she said. The Club Licensing Committee has today November 8, 2021 granted a conditional approval to the Tarkwa Akoon Park which is the main venue for premier league club, Medeama SC. Medeama SC requested for a review of the inspection date by the Licencing Committee which was originally dated for November 15, 2021 to an earlier date. The Committee at it's last meeting agreed to take a decision on the venue on Monday, November 8, 2021. The latest report submitted to the Committee by the Club Licensing Department was satisfactory to the Committee and has therefore granted the venue a Conditional Approval pending the fixing of certain minor defects which has already been communicated to the club. Should the club fail to meet the set deadlines and maintain these standards within the course of the season, the club Licensing Committee shall revoke the license of the venue and fine the club accordingly per the dictates of the Club Licensing Book of Sanctions.
