Social media has begun to raise some pockets of doubt about the true identity of MP Sarah Adwoa Safo, who was in parliament yesterday. Many believe the woman who represented the Dome-Kwabenya MP was an imposter or impersonator who was sent purposefully to act instead of the young lawyer. Concerns have been raised about the seeming disparities in look, physique, and overall appearance. Many believe the NPP sneaked her in order to get their numbers up for the passing of the 2022 Budget Statement. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Adwoa Safo is currently out of the country thus it was impossible for her to be present in parliament yesterday so the woman who was seen in the house was not her. The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto has confirmed the allegations of impersonation leveled against the NPP caucus by a section of the NDC. Mr. Ablakwa, speaking on Joy FM confirmed that his side has taken note of the suspected impersonation of Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, and are still investigating the matter. In a rather interesting twist to yesterday’s drama in parliament that saw a budget that was rejected last Friday, suddenly adopted by the same house that rejected it, the NDC is now claiming that an impostor was foisted upon the house by the NPP caucus in order to get the right numbers to overturn last Friday's decision. The Volta Regional Coordinator of Senior High Schools (SHSs), Mrs Doris Abayavor, has appealed to all stakeholders in the education sector to prioritise sanitation issues in the various SHSs to help improve students’ health and academic performance. The introduction of the free SHS education programme has doubled the total intake of students which has overstretched facilities with concerns for improved sanitary measures to help avert communicable diseases. Speaking in an Interview with DAILY Analyst during a sanitation sensitisation programme being organised by Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Ghana Education Service at Vakpo Senior High School, Mrs Abayavor stated that "per the population we have in the schools almost everything is overstretched and sanitation issues should be prioritised to help avert the spread of diseases." She said "Sanitation should start with the personality involved up to the community at large and students should start with their personal hygiene which will help improve their health and academic performance." Mrs Abayavor expressed gratitude to Zoomlion Ghana Limited for the partnership with the Ghana Education Service to help undertake sanitation awareness programmes in Senior High Schools, and appealed to other private institutions to support schools in need of improved sanitation facilities. The Schools Health Education Programme (SHEP) Coordinator of the Volta Region, Mr. Constant Kofi Dzakpasu, took the students through personal hygiene tips such as handwashing, cleaning one's immediate environment among others and tasked them to practise personal hygiene at all times. He said "Effective behaviour change programme are critical to the success and sustainability of all water, sanitation and hygiene interventions. Schools must practise handwashing with soap, safe handling of drinking water, safe excreta disposal, environmental sanitation and personal hygiene including menstrual hygiene." A Senior Communications Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr Adams Mohammed Mahama, explained that proper solid waste management practices by stating that "Solid waste management starts with the individual in that when you put your solid waste in a wastebin, it becomes easier to collect and send them to recycling facilities established by Zoomlion to recycle them into re-useable products." He charged the students to be good agents of sanitation practices in their communities to help make Ghana a clean nation. The Assistant Headmaster of Vakpo SHS expressed the school's appreciation to Zoomlion Ghana Limited and GES for the education and support to help manage solid waste within the campus. The 2021 Quiz Mistress for the recently held National Science and Mathematics (NSMQ), Dr. Elsie Kauffman has revealed that she received death threats via mail before and after the grand final of the year's competition. According to her, the death threats came from unknown persons. Speaking on a Kumasi-based television station, the Quiz Mistress said "People were so wild. Some went as far as fishing out my email address, phone number and sent me death threats.. I have received my death threats already" It is emerging that some followers of the recently held quiz were unhappy about what they call an advantage given to Prempeh College by the Quiz Mistress during a round in which each school had 15secs to solve a question. She, however, denied the allegations stressing that the quiz was guided by rules. "It's spelled out to the contestants of the respective schools competing and if any school feels there’s a blunder, they have the right to instantly raise concerns but not when the program has been done" However a formal complaint is yet to be made to the police hierarchy about the death threats. Reports coming from Parliament reveals that the Minority Caucus is missing in the House today Tuesday, November 30. On Friday, November 26, the Minority Caucus voted to reject the 2022 budget after the Majority Caucus staged a walkout. However, the Majority Caucus later asked Ghanaians to disregard the supposed rejection of the 2022 'agyenkwa' budget. The Majority Caucus argued that the Minority and the decision of the Speaker to endorse it, constitute an unconstitutionality and illegality and should be disregarded, as same is void and of no effect whatsoever. Parliament reconvenes today to continue processes to either maintain or overturn the decision to reject the 2022 Budget statement and Fiscal Policy. The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Dr. Afriyie (MP) has inaugurated a 13 member governing board to steer the affairs of the National Biosafety Authority (NBA). According to Dr. Afriyie, the governing board should ensure generically modified organisms are well checked before released to the general public. Speaking at the inauguration of the 13 governing board, the Minister said "First of all health, if we don't take care, we could have a very bad impact on human health and animal health and then when you take the environment, when you let out GMOs into the environment, they have the potential to change your flora and fauna which means our ecological system could be disturbed" He added that GMOs also goes a long way to affect a country’s economy. Dr. Afriyie said "There are economic issues because we have intellectual property rights so if you don't take care before you realise, your agriculture will be depending on some external agencies" The Minister hinted that the country must have a balance of which local products will always be available incase, there are economic challenges" He was confident that the body will do a yeoman in protecting the lives and animals of the country. Accepting the mantle as Chairman of the governing board, Prof. Charles Antwi-Boasiako said "We first of all want to thank President Akufo-Addo and the MESTI Minister for this great opportunity and we know like the Methodist always says, we have a charge to keep and a huge task ahead of us" He added that although it is a huge that, they are prepared to continue with what they started four (4) years ago. I am sure you know that the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which ushered in the 4th Republic has served us and continues to serve us well. Iam sure you know that the 4th Republican Constitution is the most enduring Constitution in our 64 years+ post independence history, which constitution constantly reminds us of our unfettered commitment to a regime of sustained and uninterrupted constitutional order. More importantly, I am sure you know that the 1992 Constitution has been this successful because of the overwhelming acceptance and legitimacy it receives from the Ghanaian people, which acceptance and legitimacy can be UNDERMINED by the actions and inactions of persons who occupy positions of privilege like you. And when the constitution, which is effectively our grund-norm, losses legitimacy and general acceptance owing to continuous disregard of its provisions with impunity, it fails to be the fundamental law of the the State, paving the way for constitutional anarchy and disorder. Following your dramatic election as Speaker of Parliament on the eve of January 7, 2021, and your assuring inaugural speech upon assumption of office, many of us had a legitimate expectation that you would indeed live by what you said; that, you would rise above partisanship and be Ghana’s Speaker rather than an NDC Speaker; that, you will at all times, be guided by your official oath and the national interest and become a neutral umpire in discharging your duties as a Speaker. Unfortunately, that was not meant to be. Not only have you dashed our legitimate expectations, but you have also given us a great cause for worry. You have become even more partisan than your party general secretary and flag bearer. And as if that is not enough, you have become the greatest threat to the continuous survival of the 4th Republican Constitution, having thrown all its provisions and principles to “Nadoli-Kaleo dogs”. When the Constitution talks about rule of law, you talk about rule of Bagbin. When the Constitution talks about equality before the law, you say MPs under you are above the law, and cannot be arrested by the Police even if they are caught committing a crime. When the President and Ministers of State exercise Executive Powers enshrined under Chapter 8 of the Constitution, you sit in Parliament and purport to give a counter-directive. You even threaten that you can remove the President but he cannot remove you. Even when the Judiciary, in whom the judicial power of Ghana is vested by the Constitution under Article 125, exercises that power and declares that an MP was not legally elected, you say to hell with the court/judiciary.. you say you will continue to recognize that “imposter Assin North MP”, and unfortunately, everybody including the Executive arm of government, with all the powers of the State [Police, Military, BNI, National Security etc) looks on helplessly while you take this country to ransom. Probably, they are waiting for you to declare yourself as life-president before they act. Well, Ghanaians, being all-forgiving, are willing to pardon you for all these “sins” you have committed against the Republic. But, we are UNABLE to pardon your conduct of parliamentary business last Friday, November 26, when you purported to lead your partisan NDC Minority MPs to reject Government’s 2022 budget, and by extension, render this country UNGOVERNABLE. What at all did you think you were seeking to do? To bring this country to a complete SHUTDOWN? Have you sunk this low? My goodness! Even in perpetuating this diabolic political mischief for your political party, you again made nonsense of the explicit provisions of the 1992 Constitution and Parliament’s own Standing Orders which mandate a Speaker to only put a question for a decision to be taken when at least more than half of all MPs are present. Certainly, you know that 137 is less than half of 275, but the NDC revolutionary cancer in you will not make you come to this appreciation. Interestingly, in less than 24 hours after purporting to reject the 2022 “Adwenpa budget”, you are traveling to Dubai, with your wife and 3 others, at the expense of the poor taxpayer. What you have forgotten is that all your medical and traveling expenses are to be funded by the same budget you purported to reject. Wherein lies your principle Mr. Speaker? Remember the popular saying that the evil that men do, does not only live after them but also lives with them today and forever. I can assure you that Ghanaians will not allow you to destroy the Fourth Republican Constitutional democracy, which has served us well. Manchester United Appoints Ralf Rangnick As Interim Manager Manchester United has named Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, the Premier League club announced on Monday, eight days after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 63-year-old German steps in to replace Solskjaer, who was removed after United’s 4-1 defeat by Watford this month, their seventh loss in 13 games across all competitions which left them eighth in the Premier League standings. “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, subject to work visa requirements. Following this period, Ralf and the club have agreed that he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years,” the club said in a statement. Rangnick, who joins from Lokomotiv Moscow, takes over from first-team coach Michael Carrick, who has been in charge for two matches since Solskjaer was sacked. “He was our number one candidate for interim manager, reflecting the invaluable leadership and technical skills he will bring from almost four decades of experience in management and coaching,” said Manchester United’s Football Director John Murtough. Rangnick, a former RB Leipzig boss, said he was excited about joining Manchester United and focused on making it a successful season for the struggling club. “The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience,” he said. “All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team. “Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis.” United has gone from the relative inexperience of Solskjaer, who was in charge for three years and did not win a trophy despite improving the makeup of the squad, to a coach in Rangnick who has been an influence on managers like Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich’s Julian Nagelsmann and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp. He has experience as a sporting director and first team manager – particularly within Red Bull’s network of clubs with roles at Salzburg and Leipzig.
