Information reaching Thinknewsonline.com indicate that iced sachet water, popularly known by Ghanaians as 'pure water' will be selling at GHc0.40p while a bag from mini retail shops will go for GHc8 effective April 1. This was made known by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (Naspawap). In a statement, it said "Iced sachet Water, popularly known as 'pure water' remains unchanged at GHc0.40p. A bag of sachet water, 500ml by 30pieces will now sell at GHc6 maximum from the retail trucks. Mini shops will now retail a bag of sachet water at GHc8 per bag maximum" The statement also added that the reviews serves as a guide to all Regional Associations and to ensure uniformity across the country. The Leadership of Naspawap further stressed that prices might differ slightly due to haulage to remote and distant areas. Thinknewsonline.com has gathered that the new price reviews was necessitated by the rising cost of inputs, such as fuel and packaging materials which are mainly imported and produced from petroleum sources. A Vector Control Officer (VCO) of Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL), Mr. Enoch Mintah, has hinted that his outfit's continuous disinfection of the country’s airports is to contain the virus. He said despite the reduction in Covid cases across the country, his company will continue to carry out disinfection operations in the country’s airports until the virus was no more. "Even though we know there has been a fall in the number of cases recorded in recent times, we're bent on ensuring the country records zero cases of Covid, particularly at the entry points", he assured. Mr Mintah made the observation during the monthly disinfection of the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. He also underscored the need to concentrate more on the country's airports, detailing that most of the cases recorded by the country were imported. "We all know that the airport is a hotspot. Therefore, the need to concentrate on the airports. We know we have recorded a low number of cases and that is not the reason to stop the disinfection of the airports. Our main aim is that we want to keep the infectious cases down," he further said. Explaining the reason for the continuous disinfection of the airports, Mr. Mintah noted that because some travelers may not have been fully vaccinated, the possibility of them spreading the virus was very high when they come into contact with others. The feat chalked up in dealing with the novel coronavirus, he indicated, was an integration of various actions. He said Zoomlion as a private company will continue to put measures in place to help achieve zero cases of Covid. He, therefore, called on the general public to join hands in achieving zero Covid cases. A team of sprayers from Zoomlion Ghana Limited disinfected the various facilities of the KIA Terminal Three. The team, with the help of the knapsack spraying machines, also disinfected the arrival hall, departure halls, janitorial, tables and chairs, and other empty spaces within the halls. A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu has taken a swipe at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for dragging the ailing Chieftaincy Minister, Ebenezer Kojo Kum to Parliament to vote in favor of the much-talked-about E-Levy. According to him, the act by the NPP id unreasonable and not decent. In a Facebook sighted by Thinknewsonline.com, he posted "Surely the NPP do not intend to drag the ailing Chieftaincy Minister to Parliament against all reason and decency, to vote in favor of the E-Levy, do they?" He later hit hard on the family of the Minister expressing his disappointment for they allowed the MP to go through such humiliation. "Which family would allow their loved one to be subjected to this kind of humiliation in such a state?" It will be recalled that the MP has been bedridden for some time. Reports indicate, Hon. The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) has commissioned and handed over an Astroturf pitch to the Abelenkpe community in the Ayawaso West Municipality. The project forms part of the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to provide each constituency with a modern multi-purpose sports facility. The commissioning took place on Sunday 27th March 2022 and was attended by some government officials and traditional leaders. Present were Hon. Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah, Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso West, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wugon Constituency, Nii Torgbor Obodai Agasu Obrempong Ampao VI, Chief of Mempeasem among others. A commemorative football match was played between Abelenkpe Eleven and Tesano Eleven. Addressing the gathering, the CEO of Coastal Development Authority (CODA), Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib explained that several Astroturf projects have been constructed in all six regions within the coastal zone under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP). According to him, IPEP is one of the government policies under the Akufo-Addo administration, that allocates one million dollars to each constituency for special infrastructure projects and social interventions. Projects are determined through stakeholder engagement and bottom-up needs assessment process. CODA leads the implementation of IPEP in 109 constituencies in the six regions that make up the Coastal Development Zone. Lawyer Ahmed emphasized that the Authority have implemented some social intervention programmes like the CODA Credit Union, CODA Drive, CODA Health Train, CODA Fishers Support, the CODA Farmers Support and others. He used the opportunity to touch on the CODA Clean Beach Campaign which is intended to make our coastal communities clean and free of filth and squalor. The CEO appealed to everyone on the need to support the clean beach initiative in order to boost tourism. The MCE for the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah in her speech thanked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the creation of the Development Authorities, especially CODA. According to her CODA is bridging several developmental gaps through the construction of school blocks, drainages, health facilities, roads among others. She pledged the Assembly’s commitment and support to ensuring that the facility is put to good use as well as putting in place an effective maintenance plan. The lights at Nigeria's national stadium went off on Monday evening as the Black Stars held a training session. The team arrived in Abuja on Monday afternoon and checked in at the Abuja Sheraton. It wasn't long before Otto Addo's team headed to the Mashood Abiola Stadium to hold a training session ahead of their World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. In a viral video of the said incident shared on social media, the Black Stars team are captured in the dark with only mobile phone torches providing some light. The players and other staff members are heard singing in what appeared to be the closing stages of their training session. About the March 29 game The Black Stars drew goalless with Nigeria on March 25 in the first-leg of their World Cup Qualifying playoff. Winner of the March 29, 2022 final leg will book one of five African slots at the 2022 World Cup. The incident has triggered mockery on Twitter as Ghanaians journalists and fans mock Nigerians for not getting their electricity supply right but hoping to get World Cup qualification right. The Appiatse Support Fund Committee has on Monday, 28th March, 2022, received donations from the Volta River Authority (VRA), Mantrac Ghana Limited and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, responsible for Mines, Hon. George Mireku Duker. The representatives from the VRA presented a cheque of 200,000 Ghana Cedis to the Fund as their contribution towards the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Appiatse community. Speaking on behalf of VRA, Mr. Tutu Agyare, Board Chairman of VRA said their decision to contribute is not only for the short term of rebuilding the Appiatse Community but a long term commitment of investment to ensure that Appiatse township gets back on its feet. "VRA is one of the few institutions in the country which has a lot of experience in resettlement having to do with the lake, so the extent to which the Committee requires the leverage of our experience,  we can also offer that as well". He said Mr. Tutu requested that the committee keeps VRA in the know of other activities leading to the reconstruction of the community, while pledging their unwavering support to the team. Mr. Emmanuel Antwi Darkwa, the CEO of VRA reiterated the Organisation's willingness to offer assistance anytime needed in addition to the financial contribution made. Addressing the team from VRA, the Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee expressed her appreciation on behalf of the Committee. "I'm glad that the Chairman mentioned that you would be willing to support us with all the knowledge that you have, not only about resettlement but also about being eco-friendly and that's what the President has instructed. President Akufo-Addo says effective Monday, 28th March, the wearing of facemasks is no longer mandatory. According to him, despite such decision, he is appealing to all to continue to maintain enhanced hand hygiene practices, and avoid overcrowded gatherings. He stressed that such travellers will not be tested on arrival. "Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, would, however, need to provide a negative PCR test result of not more than 48-hours, will undergo an antigen test upon arrival at KIA, and will be offered vaccination there" "It is worth noting that the establishment of the COVID-19 testing infrastructure at the Kotoka International Airport by Frontier Healthcare Services Ltd, at its own cost, has been key to our ability to limit successfully the importation of the virus into Ghana through the airport" He stressed that the efficacy of the testing regime at KIA has won global admiration, and has been applauded by all those who have undergone its testing. President Akufo-Addo says his government is determined to use all means to increase the deployment of vaccination across the country to achieve its target of vaccinating some twenty million (20 million) Ghanaians by June 2022. According to him, although the whole country has not been covered, it is significant to note that reasonable vaccination coverages have been achieved in the hotspots of infections, particularly in the urban areas of Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi. Addressing the nation on Sunday, he said "Whilst we have not achieved our national vaccination coverage target, it is significant to note that reasonable vaccination coverages have been achieved in the hotspots of infections, particularly in the urban areas of Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi.
