Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Saane Daara has sent a caution to the Senior National Team, Black Stars to limit their time spent on social media before and during the Qatar 2022 World Cup. According to him, the players should rather spend time either watching videos of other football nations or better get enough rest. Speaking on an Accra-based television, he said "Protect yourself. Don't waste your time on social media while at the tournament. Let your posts be full of motivation. Limit your time spent on social media" Mr. Saane Daara added that wasting too much time on social media as a player tends to affect one both mentally or psychologically. "I will advise that if they have nothing important doing online, they can even sleep. The sleep will even help them" he added. Ghana will be facing Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H at this year's World Cup at Qatar. News coming in indicates that Ghanaian Musician and Social Media Influencer, Hajia4Real has been arrested in the United Kingdom (UK) over an alleged $8 Million fraud saga. According to sources, she was picked up on Friday, over what has been described as a shady deal during her recent stay in the United States. It is emerging that Hajia4Real has already been banned from the United States, and her Instagram activities in recent days show that she might be under scrutiny, especially when she has eventually deleted some posts. The Family of Former President John Dramani Mahama has said they have no preferred candidates in the upcoming internal elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The Family said they have absolute belief in the ability of the delegates to elect the best candidates to serve the party in the various positions being contested. “John Mahama Family has no preferred candidates in the upcoming NDC Internal Elections. Reports reaching the family of H.E. The police have arrested three Chinese for alleged murder of a male adult at Bonsa in the Western Region. The suspects – Wen Jianhua, Yu Shuhui alias Eli and Zhou Daquan – allegedly shot and killed the victim at a mining site on Friday, November 11. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital for preservation and autopsy. “In line with our standard operating procedure and respect for Ghanaian tradition, the name of the deceased victim has been withheld until his family is duly informed of his demise,” police said in a statement. A search conducted at the residence of the suspects led to the retrieval of the murder weapon. The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has declared a three-day fasting and prayer for Ghana’s economy. The church noted that most economies around the world are facing economic difficulties and Ghana is not an exception. The church said they remain hopeful that the Lord will step in and put an end to these difficulties. Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has warned that that all sim cards which have not completed the second phase of registration will be completely deactivated from November 30. According to the Sector Minister, all sim cards which have not completed the second phase will also be blocked from accessing data services from November 20. In a communique sighted by Thinknewsonline.com, the Minister said "All SIM cards which have completed the first stage of the registration exercise but not done the second phase will be blocked from accessing data services on 20th November 2022 and completely deactivated on 30th November 2022." She added that despite ample opportunity afforded all to complete the registration of their SIM cards, some who have the Ghana cards and have begun the process have failed to complete the registration. The Minister stressed that such negligence was their own choice adding that her Ministry cannot begrudge the sim card owners. "Kindly contact the NCA or the requisite network operator if you require any assistance. A further announcement will be made shortly on measures to accommodate those who genuinely do not have Ghana cards, once the ongoing consultations have been completed. I would like to applaud all players in the SIM Registration Exercise value chain on the achievements attained so far" The Sector Minister noted that at the inception of the SIM Registration Exercise, she announced that the maximum number of SIMs that can be registered by an individual was ten. She added that all citizens and residents are hereby advised to check the number of SIMs registered to their Ghana Card at the end of November when the facility will be activated. "To ensure that they retain the mandated number of SIM Cards, any additional SIM registered above the mandated number of 10 will be deactivated" She stressed that all MNOs must also properly categorise registered corporate SIMs. Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful noted that the government is working to provide an enabling environment for all to access and use digital platforms by fostering the development of these technologies including SIM enabled ones. Women in Mining Ghana (WIM Ghana) has held its 3rd Regional Quarterly Review Meeting at the National Seismological Observatory Conference Room in Accra. The meeting which was held on Thursday gave an opportunity to the leadership of WIM Ghana to not only exchange ideas but also listen to respective challenges and support its members from Ghana and other African countries with possible solutions. Speakung at the event, President of WIM Ghana, Dr. Georgette B. Sakyi-Addo said "I would like to use this opportunity to thank you all for finding this exercise important to participate in" "Over the years volunteering and running Women in Mining, some of the biggest lessons i have learnt so far is that of collaborations and partnerships" She added that advocacy especially in the area of governance require a strong network to be able to push for the different groups of women they represent. "The second is the continuous renewal of knowledge. As leaders or we can never stop learning, and sharing that knowledge and capacity upgrade with our communities so that, together, our collective horizons can grow" Dr. Sakyi-Addo stressed that knowledge around mining regulations, governance, and emerging issues like renewable energy, circular economy, green economy and new industry standards and requirements are critical. "Thirdly, we need to bring along our young women to ensure that there’s a pipeline of leadership to pursue the vision for the long run" Responding to the fight against illegal mining, she said "I cannot say mining should stop but it we are to mine, then we must do that responsibly. Women must not be deprived from mining. They must also mine responsibly" She charged women in mining from other countries not to lay back to forge ahead adding that such confidence will boost many young girls to develop interest in mining. Gold Fields West Africa has donated an amount of $300,000USD as support package to the Senior National Team, Black Stars as ahead of the upcoming World Cup 2022 scheduled for Qatar. According to Gold Fields West Africa, although its support for the Black Stars is not new, it believes it will boost the confidence of the players to do well for the nation. Speaking at a brief ceremony held in Accra on Thursday, Executive Vice President and Head of Gold Fields West Africa, Joshua Mortoti said "We are here to present a cheque for Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000USD) to support the Black Stars at the World Cup in Qatar" He added that Gold Fields Ghana has an enviable reputation for its commitment to creating value for all stakeholders. Explaining further, he noted that it includes shareholders, government, host communities and employees. "Gold Fields' support for the Black Stars is not new. We have sponsored the Senior National Football Team over an eight-year period with a total of $15,000,000USD. That is from 2005 to 2012.
