"You were my everything" - Lilian Kumah eulogizes Late husband

In an emotional and heartfelt tribute, Apostle Lilian Kumah, widow of the late Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, eulogized her husband during his memorial service.

Dr. Kumah, former Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, was laid to rest in a ceremony attended by thousands, including political leaders, family, and friends.

A Life Partner and Best Friend

Apostle Lilian Kumah described her late husband as her "everything," emphasizing the deep bond they shared.

"You were not just my husband, but also my best friend. My supporter, my provider, and my teacher. My encourager even in my journey as a religious leader," she said, her voice breaking with emotion.

Support Through Education and Ministry

Apostle Kumah recounted how Dr. Kumah played a pivotal role in her education and career.

After meeting him in Accra, he supported her through her secondary school education and further studies.

"I met him in Accra after completing my SSCE. He helped me throughout my education, investing in me significantly. His support was unwavering, and I passed successfully," she said.

A Pillar of Strength and Inspiration

Dr. Kumah's support extended beyond education.

He stood by Apostle Kumah when she became a lady pastor, encouraging her every step of the way.

"Despite your investment in my education, you supported me even when I became a lady pastor. You have been my inspiration all my life and the reason I strived to be a better person," she added.

A Unique and Forgiving Spirit

Apostle Kumah highlighted her husband's unique qualities, including his forgiving nature and the respect he showed her in all circumstances.

"You forgave despite the situation. You gave me the needed respect in all conditions. You were unique in all your dealings," she reminisced.

A Vow to Fulfill His Dreams

In her tribute, Apostle Kumah made a solemn vow to uphold Dr. Kumah's legacy and fulfill his dreams.

"I will never disappoint you and ensure all your dreams come true," she pledged, drawing a mix of tears and applause from the gathered mourners.

A Nation in Mourning

The memorial service for Dr. Kumah, who passed away at the age of 45 after a short illness, saw a high-powered government delegation led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Vice President spoke of Dr. Kumah's dedication and impact, expressing the nation's collective grief at his passing.

Celebrating a Life of Service

Born on August 4, 1978, in Ejisu Odaho, Ashanti Region, Dr. Kumah's journey was marked by significant achievements.

He attended Opoku Ware School and later earned degrees in economics, law, and business.

His professional career included roles as a solicitor, legal practitioner, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and eventually Deputy Finance Minister.

Political and Public Service

Elected as the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency in the 2020 general elections, Dr. Kumah's political career was distinguished by his advocacy for his constituents and his principled approach to governance.

His roles within various parliamentary committees further highlighted his dedication to public service.

A Lasting Legacy

Dr. Kumah's passing has left a void in both his family and the nation. However, his legacy of dedication, support, and inspiration continues to resonate, as evidenced by the heartfelt tributes and widespread mourning.
