The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to several communities in the north-eastern part of Accra on Friday, July 4, 2025.

The shutdown, scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., is to allow for emergency repair works at the Kpong Treatment Plant.

In a public notice issued by the Public Relations and Communications Department of the GWCL, the company explained that the repair works are necessary to maintain and improve the quality of service delivery to customers.

The affected areas include parts of Dodowa, Oyarifa, Madina, Adenta, Ashaley Botwe, East Legon, Abokobi, Haatso, Agbogba, Ashongman, and surrounding communities.

GWCL is advising residents in these areas to store enough water ahead of the shutdown period to avoid any inconvenience.

"Management is entreating all customers to store water and use it judiciously while the repairs are underway," the statement noted.

Essential service providers who may require special assistance during the period are encouraged to contact GWCL on the following numbers: 0800 40000 (Toll-Free on Vodafone), 0302 2218240, 0207385089, 0207385090, or via WhatsApp on 0555123393 and 0555155524.

The company assured customers that efforts will be made to complete the repairs within the stipulated time and restore water supply promptly.

“Management regrets any inconvenience this interruption may cause and wishes to thank the public for their patience and cooperation,” the statement concluded.
