ThinkNews Online can confirm one person has been reported dead after some supporters of the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC ) clashed with followers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a registration centre at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa East Constituency in the Bono Region.
Sources say the clash also left some person seriously injured while some properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis were destroyed.
It is emerging the incident happened during the Electoral Commission’s mop-up of the voter’s registration exercise during which gunshots were fired.
It still remains unclear how it all started but a man who has been identified as Kofi Labatu, a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital.
Addressing the media, Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa West, Ali Maiga Halidu said "The deceased was hit by a bullet fired by a security personnel who were deployed to the scene"
Two people are said to be responding to treatment at the Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds on Saturday.
