VOTER REGISTRATION: Military Deployment To NDC Strongholds Was A Deliberate Attempt By NPP" - Mahama

Presidential Candidate of the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has revealed the deployment of Military personnel to the major strongholds was a deliberate attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to intimidate its members.

According to him, the military men deployed were more in the strongholds of NDC as compared to that of the ruling government.

Speaking on an Accra-based television station in Accra, the Presidential Candidate said "I have seen the military deployment. Mainly in the strongholds of the NDC, the military was very visible and then in constituencies that NPP seems likely to lose, the military was very visible"

He added considering the number of deployment, one can easily tell somebody was trying to achieve something.

The Presidential Candidate who doubles as Former President of Ghana said “And in the very strongholds of the NPP there was no military. So somebody might be trying to intimidate people and achieve a certain political consequence.”

Mr. Mahama further explained saying the current voter registration is not the first to happen in the country adding the previous ones had nothing like intimidation as compared to the recently held.

"For him, the nature of some settlements in Ghana requires that some persons move from one town to the other to register. Some relatives of mine live in the Ivory Coast and attend to family affairs in Ghana. Ghana is their home and have to come register then vote"
