Vice President of the Republic, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has returned home safely from the United Kingdom after undergoing intensive medical treatment, following a brief illness that began in late March.

Her arrival marks the end of a medical leave that commenced after she reportedly fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025.

She was initially admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where she received preliminary treatment and evaluation.

A statement issued by the Office of the President on Sunday, March 30, confirmed that the Vice President was in stable condition and responding well to treatment at UGMC.

However, as a precautionary measure to ensure a full recovery, she was subsequently flown to the UK for further medical attention.

Though officials did not disclose the specific nature of her condition, they maintained that the overseas treatment was necessary and part of a carefully managed recovery process.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s safe return has been welcomed by many Ghanaians as a positive and reassuring development. She is expected to gradually resume her official duties in the coming days.
