President Akufo-Addo has ordered Trotro, Airplanes and Taxis Operators to operate at full capacity as part of measures of easing restrictions in the transport sector.
According to him, the decision comes after fruitful consultations with the Ministers for Transport, Aviation and leadership of various transport unions.
Delivering his 14th speech on measures put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19, President Akufo-Addo said "Airplanes, Taxis and Trotros can resume regular operations with full capacity"
He however maintained that drivers and passengers should continue wearing their face shield and nose mask in both vehicles and aircrafts.
In March 2020, President Akufo-Addo ordered vehicle and aircraft owners to reduce the number of passengers after consultations with leaderships of their various unions.
The decision was geared toward ensuring social distancing protocols in public transport in a bid to control the spread of the virus.
Speaking in an interview with an Accra-based radio station, Deputy Transport Minister, Titus Glover said "Government took the decision in acknowledgment of the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on driver"
It is however unknown when transport fares will be reduced.
