“Support Odorgonno SHS with science laboratory” - Ga Mantse to Ghana Gas

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has appealed to the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Judith Adjobah Blay, to support the construction of a modern science laboratory for Odorgonno Senior High School as part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The appeal was made when the CEO, accompanied by the executive management team of Ghana Gas, paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse at his palace in Accra.

Welcoming the delegation, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II described the visit as timely and commended Ghana Gas for reaching out to the Ga State.

He noted that although the Ga people are hosts of Ghana's capital, they continue to face challenges, including the gradual erosion of their language and cultural heritage, as well as marginalisation in some aspects of national development.

The Ga Mantse said partnerships with institutions such as Ghana Gas are essential to supporting development within the Ga State.

Drawing attention to the needs of Odorgonno Senior High School, the King said the school urgently requires a fully equipped science laboratory to improve practical science education.

He explained that he recently visited the school during an invitation and observed the inadequate laboratory facilities, stressing that many distinguished professionals from the Ga State have passed through the institution.

"I recently visited Odorgonno Senior High School and realised they have a challenge with their science laboratory. I would like Ghana Gas to consider supporting the school with a modern laboratory because it will greatly enhance science education and benefit generations of students," the Ga Mantse appealed.

On her part, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company Limited, Judith Adjobah Blay, said the visit was long overdue and was intended to formally introduce the company's new leadership to the Ga Traditional Council while paying homage to the Ga Mantse.

She conveyed warm greetings from the Board, executive management and staff of Ghana Gas and also extended birthday wishes to the Ga Mantse following his recent celebration.

Mrs. Blay explained that although Ghana Gas' gas processing plant and pipeline infrastructure are located at Atuabo in the Western Region, the company's headquarters are situated in Accra, making the Ga State its home.

"Our headquarters are in Accra, and Your Royal Majesty is the overlord of the Ga State. We therefore see ourselves as your children, and it is only proper that we come to pay our respects and strengthen our relationship with the Ga Traditional Council," she said.

She noted that Ghana Gas, established about 14 years ago, is responsible for processing Ghana's natural gas to power electricity generation and support industrial development, adding that the company remains committed to contributing to national development while expanding its social investment programmes across the country.
