Stonebwoy Signs Global Def Jam Deal With Universal Music Group (PICS)


Celebrated Ghanaian Afropop, Reggae Artist, Livingstone Etse Satekla known in showbiz as Stonebwoy has signed a new global deal with 0207 Def Jam, and Def Jam Africa, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group (UMG).


The new deal will see Def Jam Africa promote Stonebwoy's music across Africa, Germany, UK among others while Def Jam Recordings will be his label home in the United States (US)


Thinknewsonline.com has gathered 0207 Def Jam, has two Ghanaian brothers, Alec and Alex Boateng as Founders of Universal Music Group.


The twin brothers will be supporting the Bhim Nation President in the UK.


On his part, the Co-Founder of UMG, Alec Boateng expressed his excitement at the signing of Stonebwoy to the group.


He said "It is very exciting for us to be working with someone who is a very important brand in Ghana"


He described Stonebwoy as not only a great Ambassador but a great Musician who loves his trade.


"To work with the team in South Africa and Ghana, it brings some excitement and we are looking forward to lots of great moments"


"Thank you for choosing Universal Music Group" he concluded.


On her part, Lorato Masepe, Senior PR/Comms, Def Jam Africa said "As Def Jam Recordings and Universal Music Group, we want to give a much welcome to the much talented, Stonebwoy to our family. Who would not want to sign such talent"


She added that with such global deal, 0207 Def Jam Recordings is hoping to give Stonebwoy much exposure not only in Africa but in the US, UK, Germany among others.


She was optimistic that Ghanaians are going to support the Bhim Nation President as their own.


Member of Universal Music Group, Khadijadt El-Alawa said "Thank you all for making it. It is an exciting moment as a Ghanaian. I have enjoyed Stonebwoy’s songs and now having joined Universal Music Africa, it is a great opportunity to have Stonebwoy ad part of us"


She added that her outfit is ready to use its resources to expose more Ghanaian and African Music to the world.


"Welcome Stonebwoy, we are grateful" she concluded.


Member of BHIM Nation Management Team, Martin Addo, said "We are so excited to show to the world the amazing stuffs that Stonebwoy is doing. He has locked himself up for a long time working on new songs"

New signee of 0207 Def Jam Recordings, Stonebwoy said "We have come a long way and I am from the ghettos of Ashaiman battling my way through from 'Kasahare', medical situations, going through it all but still singing for people and people connecting with me up until this point, we have to give thanks to God Almighty"


The award-winning African Artist described his new signing as the beginning of a new level stressing that he will push further in order to serve his audiences with the best.


"It is a wish for all of us to reach higher. Fortunately for me, in the line of my career, my achievements cannot to me."


He noted that despise he doing music with his team, he is right to give credit to the audience.


"My songs are filled with words of wisdom and words that will guide and teach us to show love"


Stonebwoy appealed to the Ghanaian public to support his works.


"It can never be done by one person but it can be started by one person but I will continue to do my own"


Responding to a question from a Journalist, Stonebwoy hinted that although most of his works will done by some foreign producers, he is assuring his current team that no one will lose his or her job.


He advised young musicians to follow the right path in order to excel.


Stonebwoy has however released his new single dubbed 'Therapy'.


The single is the first release for his newly signed record deal with Def Jam.


Therapy comes off the back of four albums, several hit records, movie roles, and humanitarian work as part of the Livingston Foundation, which works to improve Ghanaian communities through education and disability justice.
