Stanbic Bank Donates GHc200,000 To Appiatse Support Fund (PICS)

The Management of Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated GHc200,000 to the Appiatse Support Fund.
According to the bank, the donation will not only help support the reconstruction of the community but the boost the STEM education for girls in Appiatse community.
Leading the team, Head of Brands and Marketing at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Mawuko Afadzinu said "100,000 of our donation is to support the Fund on with regards to the reconstruction of the community, while the other 100,000 cedis will be channelled into to a STEM education project for girls in Appiatse themed: Breaking the Bias"
He stressed that the project will ensure that school girls in Appiatse community are given the opportunity to proper education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
"I want to commend the committee for its remarkable role it is playing in soliciting funds for this worthy cause"
Receiving the donation, Chairperson of the Support Fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Roselind Aryee thanked the Management of Stanbic Bank Ghana for their contribution.
She was particularly concerned about the interest to invest GHc100,000 into STEM education for girls girls in the community.
"The Sterm education is very important and key and I am sure the Minister for Education will be happy about this initiative. Thank you for such a generous thought"
Rev. Aryee told the media that all monies collected are being invested while awaiting the commencement of the reconstruction project.
"The media should note that the monies taken are being invested, it's an investment account and not a savings account and we are continuing this until we are ready to start building".
A Member of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee and President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Dr. Sulemanu Konney said "The Mining Industry has been hit by the sudden occurrance but as a resolute team, we are working closely with the Health and Safety committee to ensure that, such an accident does not reoccur"
He disclosed that a few companies from the Chamber have donated privately towards the recovery process of Appiatse community and hoped that more companies and individuals will also donate.
Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, also a member of the Support Fund Committee added her voice to appreciate Stanbic Bank for their generous donation.
She said she was particularly touched by the contribution directed towards the STEM education for girls in Appiatse.
