SSNIT Hospital Loses Top Surgeon To Covid-19

ThinkNewsOnline can confirm that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has lost one of its top surgeons to the novel coronavirus.

According to SSNIT, the sad incident occurred at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Thursday 2nd July, 2020.

In a release by the Management of SSNIT, it said "We regret to inform all staff of the passing of our consultant surgeon, Dr. Richard Kisser"

The statement further added that the deceased contracted the virus in the line of his duty.

Late Dr. Kisser becomes the next frontline health worker who has lost his life as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Few days ago, Superintendent of the Kwadaso SDA Hospital, Kumasi Dr Harry Owusu Boateng died after contracting the virus.

Professor Jacob Plange-Rhule, Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons in April this year, also passed away after contracting the virus.

ThinkNewsOnline is learning that lots of frontline health workers spread across the country have contracted the virus whiles others are still complaining of lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) at their various facilities.
