"Some Unhappy Elements Within The NPP Party Are Plotting To Thwart My Efforts" – Henry Quartey

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has expressed disappointment in some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) saying they are plotting to pull him down.

According to the Regional Minister, those individuals say he is becoming too powerful in the NPP party.

Speaking at the NPP’s Greater Accra Regional Delegates Conference in Accra on Thursday, October 14, 2021, the Ayawaso Central MP said "Some elements within the party are unhappy with my work and are plotting to thwart my efforts"

The Regional Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso Central Constituency hinted a meeting was recently held of which plans are being taken to sabotage him.

The Minister through his hard work has won the hearts of many following his 'Accra Work Again' agenda.

The unshakeable Minister hinted that whether plans or no plans about him, that will not deter him from doing his work.

He said "We sit here and say, break the eight, break the eight, and you are holding meetings among yourselves to bring somebody down. I am sad today and I will explain why. When the President gave me the position to be the Regional Minister, he among other things wanted me to be able to unite the party at the grassroots. That I have been doing, and so I thought, people, will stop speaking behind our backs.”

“But just last week, some people met and said, I am getting too much power in the region, so they are planning to bring me down. But when you do this, how do we break the eight? All I am doing is working for all of us. All we care about is our personal ambitions but let’s all realize that we have one agenda to break the eight.”

He further expressed his displeasure on how some party members instead of using their social media platforms to praise and market the party rather say bad and use unprintable words.

The Ayawaso Central MP charged the leadership of the party to suspended party members who are postings such unacceptable wstuffs about the party on social media.

“Social media has become a platform for us to insult leaders of the party. We wash our dirty linen on social media and when people are cautioned, they will tell you, the party belongs to all of us. There must be discipline in the party. If people misbehave, suspend them. We’re already in power and therefore any inaction or misbehaviour of ours, will hurt our chances of retaining that power come 2024,” he fumed.

It is emerging that some onion sellers who were relocated to Adjen Kotoku from their usual Agbogbloshie plotted to kill him spiritually.

"Nothing will stop me from doing my work as part of the ‘Let’s Make Accra Work’ campaign because so far as God exists, nothing will happen to me"

“Whether they like it or not, we will move them because we have made an alternative arrangement for them. I have heard they have gone to some mallam [spiritualist] to kill me. They are kidding. They should tell the mallam [spiritualist] to return to his hometown because so far as God exists, nothing will happen to Henry Quartey,” he insisted.

It will be recalled that the Regional Minister since assuming officer has not only relocated traders but also supervised the demolition of some unauthorised structures and is currently driving the Let's Make Accra Work’ agenda.
