In a move following the passing of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) founder and presidential candidate Madam Akua Donkor, the party has officially nominated Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, as their new flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
Formerly Akua Donkor's running mate, Roman Fada has formally submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC), confirming his place on the ballot.
Roman Fada’s selection comes amid initial reports that GFP was considering withdrawing from the race out of respect for Akua Donkor’s legacy.
However, the party has chosen to press forward, following the EC's directive to replace their late leader.
This decision reflects GFP's resolve to carry on her vision and maintain their position in the upcoming elections.
Known as a radio presenter and as the manager of renowned Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba, Roman Fada brings a distinctive background to his new role.
He has pledged to continue Akua Donkor’s mission of championing grassroots development and social equality, signaling a renewed momentum within GFP.
Political observers suggest that Roman Fada’s media presence could help the GFP reach new demographics, particularly younger and urban voters.
With Roman Fada at the helm, the GFP is expected to intensify its campaign efforts, ensuring that the legacy of Akua Donkor continues to shape the party’s future and resonate with voters as Election 2024 approaches.
