GLICO General and GLICO Life, subsidiaries of GLICO Group says, it is sponsoring the Senior National Team, Black Stars with GHc10 Million GLICO Sportsman Insurance cover and GHc50,000 cash donation as it prepares to partake in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
According to GLICO General and GLICO Life, the donation will help boost the confidence of the management and playing body of the Black Stars to put in their best and return home with the prestigious World Cup trophy.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of GLICO General, Andrew Achampong-Kyei said "As has been our custom, GLICO is committed to ensuring that, the Black Stars go all out to bring home the World Cup. For over 30 years, GLICO remains committed to its tradition of sponsoring the Black Stars and providing a reliable support for the team and its officials to guarantee them the peace of mind to focus on the ultimate, the cup. Indeed, GLICO is solidly behind the team and remains its "cushion for life".
Explaining further, Mr. Achampong-Kyei said "Toenable the Black Stars contingent (players and technical team) to be focused on the task of returning home with the ultimate prize, the GLICO Group (which is: GLICO Life, GLICO General, GLICO Healthcare, GLICO Capital and GLICO Pensions) is happy to present the Black Stars with our GLICO Sportsman Insurance cover worth GHC 10 million to cater for Personal Accident, Injuries, Medical Expenses and Death"
He also mentioned that the GHC 50,000.00 cash donation was to support the preparation of the Black Stars prior to departing Accra for Qatar.
The MD hinted that GLICO also has a special Travel Insurance package for all who will be travelling to Qatar.
The Managing Director was optimistic that the Black Stars will make Ghana proud; and in this belief, wished them the very best in the tournament.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif and the Black Stars, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Eveans Opoku Bobie thanked GLICO for their continuous support.
He assured that the donation received will be used for its intended purposes.
The Deputy Minister ceased on the opportunity to call on other Institutions and Philanthropists to also show their love to the Senior National Team, Black Stars.
