Political Science Professor at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampo has warned the governing NPP against attacking the person of the newly selected NDC running mate, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
According to Prof. Gyampo, any such act can easily be construed as an attack on womanhood.
Speaking to Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Tuesday, he said any critique of the former Education Minister should “be fair and based only on issues and her track record.”
Communicators of the NPP, he said, “must not fall for the trap of political suicide by saying nasty things that may be interpreted as an attack on womanhood”
This, he argued can quickly backfire should a constituency of women decide to mobilise and support their own.
Prof. Gyampo’s comment’s comments come a day after the NDC revealed the identity of presidential nominee John Mahama’s running mate.
The announcement put to bed months of speculation and numerous fake news publications about a running mate choice for the biggest opposition party.
The veteran educationist and former Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast (UCC) released a statement accepting the appointment.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang must ready for fire ahead.
