POLITICS: "143,963 Youth Benefit From YEA Programme" - Labour & Employment Minister


Minister for Employment and Labour Relation, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has revealed that about 143,963 youth across the country have benefited from Government's new flagship programmes to promote inclusive development and job creation.


According to him, the new flagship programmes has contributed to youth empowerment since 2017.


Addressing Journalists in Accra, he said "YEA Job Centre, An ICT based platform/portal dedicated to facilitate job placement for the youth. Regional Flagships Programme, a predominately agro-based regional specific initiatives that seeks to encourage and incentive more youth to venture into agriculture. He added that an ICT based platform and portal has been dedicated to facilitate job placement for the youth.


"Again a total of 3,000 young people had also benefited from the Arabi instruction module,an initiative aimed at empowering muslim students in the area of spoken Arabic.on youth in sports,another module under the programme, Minister Baffour Awuah said a total of 1,988 young people had taken advantage of the initiative to advance their aspirations in the sports sector" he mentioned.


The Labour Minister announced that the youth employment agency job centre under the flagship programme had benefited a total 1,012,youth in elite sports 1,000, youth in afforestation, 60,000 entrepreneurship training, 5000 agricultural extension officers, 1,200 monitoring and Evaluation Assistants.
