Police To Probe Abuse Of Covid-19 Protocols At Yvonne Okoro’s Sister Wedding?

Concerns are being raised as to whether police in Ghana will take interest in investigating gross violation of coronavirus safety protocols at the traditional wedding of actress Yvonne Okoro’s sister, Roseline Okoro. Videos obtained by African Entertainment from the wedding which took place in Accra on Sunday, April 11, 2021, show lack of social distancing, and some individuals virtually not wearing face masks.

Police in Ghana have been arresting poor citizens on streets nationwide for not wearing face masks which usually cost between Ghc 1 and Ghc 2.

Yvonne Okoro is a Ghanaian-Nigerian actress. Her sister, Roseline is a medical doctor by profession and tied the knot with her long-time fiancé, Anthony at their star-studded wedding ceremony.

But videos from show violations of coronavirus safety protocols.

The bride, the groom and another elderly man, probably Roseline’s dad or uncle were also seen drinking palm wine from the same glass. Coronavirus, according to health experts spreads through saliva as well.

In attendance at the wedding were top Ghanaian celebrities including Kidi, Majid Michel, Stonebwoy and Medikal. Medikal was seen performing with a ‘thick’ crowd surrounding him as he performed, with some persons not socially distancing nor wearing nose masks. Ghana’s Health Ministry and Ghana Health Service Covid19 protocols mandates the wearing of face masks and social distancing at such events.

Norway example Recently, Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, fell in trouble for violating coronavirus safety protocols.

She had been reported to have broken the coronavirus safety protocols at her birthday celebration and has since been fined 20,000 kroner (£1,713).

The violation came to light in a report by the public broadcaster NRK, which triggered a police investigation.

The Prime Minister has since apologized several times for organizing the event for her 60th birthday with 13 relatives at a mountain resort in late February 2021, despite a government ban on gatherings of more than 10 people.

African Entertainment is therefore looking to see if Ghanaian authorities would take action for the abuse of safety protocols at the traditional wedding of Roseline and Anthony.
