The Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation into the gruesome murder of three individuals at Tuba Netlink Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.
Addressing the press in Accra on Saturday, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, revealed that the tragic incident occurred on 19th May 2024, following a distress call about a violent attack at a residence in the area.
According to COP Donkor, police officers dispatched to the scene discovered the lifeless body of a 39-year-old woman, Alberta Hagan, and two of her children in a room, all lying in a pool of blood.
Upon inspection, it was found that one of the children was still alive but had sustained multiple deep lacerations to the head and was bleeding from the ear.
In a shocking twist, a five-month-old baby was also found alive, placed on a sofa in the hall, untouched by the violence.
"The incident is deeply disturbing, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic act," COP Donkor stated.
COP Lydia Donkor also disclosed that the Ghana Police Service has intensified efforts to tackle the growing threat of transnational vehicle theft, which she described as a rising concern with international implications.
“Vehicle theft does not only cause financial loss to individuals but also damages Ghana's reputation globally and contributes to other organised criminal activities,” she said.
On the issue of human trafficking, COP Donkor said her department remains relentless in its fight against traffickers who continue to lure unsuspecting victims with promises of lucrative jobs abroad.
“Our investigations reveal that traffickers are now using more sophisticated routes, transiting victims through several countries before arriving at the final destination to avoid detection,” she noted.
In a separate development, the CID boss confirmed an ongoing investigation into a robbery incident that took place at Spintex Road in Accra on 14th September 2025.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., two armed men reportedly broke into the residence of a 35-year-old man and made away with valuables including gold jewellery, laptops, designer handbags, clothing, and cash amounting to $5,000 and GH₵21,645.
A machete, metal cutter, and T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the suspects were recovered from the scene and are being processed as evidence.
“We are pursuing all credible leads and assure the public of our commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice,” COP Donkor assured.
The Ghana Police Service is urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with ongoing investigations by providing any useful information.
