Police investigate attack on Asantehene’s convoy in Techiman

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Techiman, Bono East Region, on Monday, December 2, 2024.
According to a preliminary report from the Police, the incident occurred as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. It was alleged that some youth, believed to be residents of Techiman, hurled stones at buses within the convoy.
The Police stated that they are collaborating with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other stakeholders in Techiman to gather information and ensure a thorough investigation into the matter.

“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police as investigations continue,” a Police statement read.
Further updates on the situation will be communicated as investigations progress.
